Sonny Carisi (SVU) One Shots!

Part 4: Picking up the pieces

You and sonny haven't been able to go out on a proper date since that night over a month ago. Your schedules just haven't matched up and anytime you're both off, the job pulls it's card and you're stuck at work. Although you've managed to grab lunch together two or three times, you're excited about the date that's to occur in a few hours. Sonny had the entire day off for his nieces communion so you knew he wouldn't be getting called back in. The case you're working on is finally wrapped up and Olivia told everyone to go home once their paperwork is finished. As you work on finishing your last few pages, Amanda logs out of her computer and comments, "finally! I can't believe Olivia is giving us all tomorrow off. Do you have any plans?"

She smirks when she asks as she reaches for her bag and you reply, "I've got a date tonight."

"Oh, yah! That's exciting. How'd you guys meet?" She pushes for details.

You don't want to tell her who but you don't want to lie so you say, "through the job."

Her smirk grows into a smile and she says, "ohhh, steamy. You know, I could use some steamy coworker action myself. Maybe I'll see what Carisi is up to tonight." She pulls out her phone and sends a text. You put your head down, a little worried but are quickly relieved when she says, "hmm, he's busy." She puts her phone into her back pocket and asks, "what about you? Wanna grab a drink before your date?" You want to say no but Amanda is your friend and you do have a few hours before Sonny picks you up. You agree and Amanda hangs out for another 20 minutes as you finish your paperwork. After settling in at a bar top and getting your drinks, you make a bit of small talk about work things. The conversation quickly turns back to you date and she pushes for details "so, who'd you catch flames for? You seem like you'd be able to handle your own with a lawyer. Or maybe it's someone from Taru?"

You shake your head, not ready to tell her it's with Sonny "it's still new, I don't want to say to much and jinx it."

"Oh, fine!" She smiles and takes a big swig "but I'm so annoyed with Carisi right now. Him and I always had this kind of thing but lately he's been so cold about it. I think I really pissed him off last month."

"Oh?" You ask, not pushing for more but hoping she elaborates. You only know what you saw happen at work and what Sonny told you at the bar.

"I swear, men can be worse then girls with the drama sometimes." She says, she orders us two more beers and goes on, "we were driving back on a case and stopped at a bar. We had a fun time and when we went to go to our rooms, he tried to kiss me." Your stomach sinks a little but you keep a straight face while listening, "I put a stop it. But I guess he saw the bartender I invited over after that leave my room in the morning." She rolls her eyes, "he was so hurt. At first I was annoyed at him. Like let a girl live her life. I was just having fun. But ever since then he's been distancing himself and I've made some pretty big moves. It's driving me crazy."

"Maybe he didn't like the game you were playing." You say out loud, not wanting to take her side but still not fully wanting to explain to her how what she did was wrong.

She shakes her head, "it wasn't a game. It was sex. Sonny and I's relationship.." she pauses looking for the right words. She lands on, "it's complicated. And sex with each other would only complicate it more. He's not the type of guy you just call for a good time. He's looking for more, and I'm just not there. Not yet at least."

"Hey, I get it. He wants a relationship and you don't. That's fair enough." You simply put it, wanting more then ever to get off this topic.

She asks, "and you want a relationship? With this date of yours?" She goes back to you.

You smile and admit, "yea, I think it can head that direction." You look down at your phone and see the time. You take a big swig of your drink and say to Amanda, "but I need to get home and get changed if I'm going to be ready on time."

"Oh! Yea! Go, go! I'll get the tab." She waves at you.

You smile and pull out some cash, "here, It's on me. Leave whatever you think, I'm going to use the restroom before I go. I'm all the way across town." You throw her some money and tell her to just shove whatever she doesn't use in your bag.

She nods and you head to the bathroom. When you come back, Amanda is already gone and your purse is sitting on the bar. You think to yourself how strange but see the cash on the bar she left so you shrug and head home.

Your date with Sonny was perfect. Every conversation, every physical brush of hands or arms touching when he walked you home get you on your toes and you prayed he would kiss you goodnight. As the two of you get to the front door, Sonny smiles and says, "I'm glad we finally managed to have another proper date."

"Me too, I was starting to think it would never happen." You confide.

He brushes a piece of hair from your face behind your ear and takes a step closer, "I've been thinking about kissing you ever since our last date."

You can feel his heart beating as quick as your own and you manage to get out in a huff, "me too. Oh, I mean. Kissing you though, not.." But him leaning in to kiss you stops you in your tracks and you let his mouth connect to yours. The two of you kiss for about a minute, before he pulls away to smile biting his lower lip. You ask him "what are you thinking?"

"How much better that was then I was expecting." He says, leaning back down to kiss you again.

Minutes go by again and you have to stop to catch your breath. You both smile at one another and you ask "do you want to come up?" He nods and leans back down to kiss you again, but this time it's brief, and the two of you head upstairs.
