You look up.

„How is it going with your pretty Doctor?" Your best friend asks.

„Don't call him like that." You say, piking on your food and having a small smile slowly appear on your face.

„He is pretty, isn't he?"

It makes you smile more, the more you think of his beautiful features and how lucky you were to be able to spent time with him. (And the way you spent time with him.)

„Yeah. Yeah he is." you respond.

„Right. So?"

„We're officially together."

„That's amazing!" He claps his hands together.

He puts his elbows on the table and creeps his head forward „Since when?"

He looked like a little child, not able to wait for his birthday or Christmas presents.

„A couple of days."

His face turned into a surprised and shocked one. „And you couldn't manage to tell me earlier?!"

„We haven't seen us in a while and I wanted to tell you in person."

„Yeah, yeah. Just search for excuses." He crossed his arms in front of him.

„Hey!"

„No, it's okay... I get it." he pretends to be deeply hurt and sad.

„Seriously." You were used to him, doing that.

„No really. It's okay... You found a better man now. A doctor with good looks and a lot of money... It's okay..."

„Stop it! You'll always be my best friend. Besides, I'm not with him because of his money or because he's a doctor."

He laughs. „I know, I know. Just messing with you."

After a couple of laughs and meaningless conversations you say: „Actually, he wants me to come with him on one of these Galas."

„Really?! Does that mean you're going to get the chance of wearing one of these fabulous dresses?"

You remember what Stephen said about the dress he bought for you and the guilt came back to you.

„Do you even have a dress? Like, they're expensive."

„Don't make me feel worse than I'm already feeling!"

„Wha- Ohhh. Wait. What?" He was switching between possible reasons why you could feel bad. 1. You didn't have a dress and didn't know how to manage to get one or 2. Your new boyfriend had bought you one. At the end he had chosen the right reason.

„No he didn't."

„He did."

„That's so adorable."

„I know. But-„

„Stop feeling bad. You deserve it. You're gonna wear that dress and knock everyone out of their shoes."

You couldn't stop laughing.

„I freaking love you." You say in between your breaths. A tear rolling down your cheek of how much you actually had laughed.

„Besides... You can still pay him back with..." he smirks and raises his eyebrows two times.

You shook your head, saying nothing more.
