This war was a massacre of humans and mermaids, it was hard to reckon if anyone could have survived. This war commenced from hundreds of year's of hatred the mermaids had for humans.

Why? You may ask, well it all began when humans found out about the mermaids and commenced to hunt them for their scales. Humans imprisoned mermaids and brought them to bars, homes, and circuses.

The mermaids were like slaves, they were maintained in small tanks that wouldn't even let the mermaid live for a week before they perished. Families torn apart, and more bloodbaths were becoming frequent around the world.

The mermaids had enough of the grief and swam to deeper waters, adapting and advancing into seductresses known as Sirens. Now they could lead sailors and humans to their demises and tales of their slaughter spread, maintaining humans from imprisoning them furthermore.

But now pirates went after them, it was remarkable for a crew to make it out of the ocean's waters, but it was possible.

The sirens had enough of the pirates, proclaiming an all-out war! Some pirates survived the slaughter, and merely a small pod made it out alive.

When the crusade was ultimately over, the final remaining few went to look for any sirens that could have made it. Sadly half the pod didn't make it out, so the last sirens left the dead to drift on top of the surface, their scales losing their value as it died with them. And this is where our tale brings us.

Levi

I am in a peaceful sleep, my body is feeling light. I have no idea if Isabel is alive or if she died in the war I had fought.

In the darkness, silent yet...calming, I am reliving my life before this moment.

Is this happening because I didn't make it out of that bloodbath? "Hello?" I ask softly, hoping someone's there. "Levi?" A familiar voice speaks my name, "mother?" I ask.

"It is you!" The familiar voice sounds of grief yet happiness. The voice suddenly has a face to it, and a healthy one. It was indeed my mother no longer burdened with sickness," what are you doing here Levi? You can't come here, yet it's NOT your time!"

I am confused, not my time? I'm dead? "Mother, what is this place?" Her face drawn into a frown with grief, "the afterlife or the bridge to the afterlife" my brows furrow, "I'm not fully dead yet?" She shakes her head, signaling no.

"Levi, you must listen to me, you need to go back, there are still people you need to meet and friends that still need you." I take my turn in shaking my head now, "you're here!  you're all that I have apart from Isabel."

Her face contorts into determination, "Levi you still have things to live for, then to stay here because of me. Live your life".

I close my eyes in frustration" Your path is still on its course I love you" she speaks softly, she gently pushes me back and left I scream for her but nothing come out of my mouth.

The darkness begins to grow lighter
"Ugh!

I feel sudden large amounts of pain throughout my body, my eyelids feel heavy, but I felt the need to open them as If my life depends on it.

Assuming that I am back with my pod and that we made it out alive. But I am left bewildered, I look around it is midnight. I discover something is extremely off and not right, discolored corpses are drifting about and away from the no longer bloody scene.

"Where is my pod?" I look around, no one is moving, and no indication of life left. I attempt to swim, but I am struck with pain from my tail. Likewise, I look down, a harpoon is stuck in my tail. I bent over and yanked it out, it's extraordinarily painful.
