Chapter 13: A Second Chance

There was a loud ringing in my ears and my eyes stayed shut. I couldn't see anything. I couldn't hear anything except for this screeching banging around y head. What in the world just happened? I stayed still and didn't even bother to move because... I couldn't. My arms, my legs, and my whole torso, all of it was numb and trapped.

Yet, it felt like there was a large piece of rotting wood that's keeping me in place. I laid there for a moment though and tried to open my eyes. I expected to be blinded by the sun or something, but it was pitch black. The sun was already down and crickets emerged, making their sweet little sounds as they chirped about the night. It was peaceful in a way. Almost making me forget what happened. 

Then a loud voice emerged! What seemed like could be coming from an old man grew louder and louder! Then out of nowhere, someone was violently shaking my body. 

"Shu!! WAKE UP!!" Screaming, I lunged forward and opened my eyes wide. Apparently, I was correct and a large chunk of wood rolled off my body. Groaning a bit, I was suddenly staring into dark brown eyes. I realized that Valt was the one shaking me to wake up. The boy had tears in his eyes and his whole face was flushed red. He then threw his arms around me as I did the same. 

I'm assuming he thought I was greatly hurt, but I can't be the only one crushed under a pile of debris. Staying in that position, I assured him that I was alright. Sore, yes, but I couldn't tell if I was greatly hurt. Pines and needles still poked my skin since my whole body was still frozen and numb.

Adrenaline rush? Maybe. There's a chance that we could all be feeling it. Soon, I let Valt go and tried my best to stand. It was pitch black and the only light source we had was the moon. Looking up, I glared at the bright moon as it stared back at me. Slightly chuckling, I pulled my hair back with my hand and faced the ground.

"I failed," I muttered to myself, making sure no one could hear me. Here I am, hoping that I could help out my friends, the group of people that have always stayed by my side, and I failed. I was hoping that I could be strong enough for them and to be of use. But, it was all over in a matter of seconds. If he's that strong, then there's no way we can take him down. 

I was taken away from my thoughts when I heard abrupt yelling in the distance. 

"Daigo!! Say something!! Don't you die on me!!" Honcho was shaking him like a ragdoll as the large piece of wood just fell off of Daigo. 

"Daigo! Get up! We've been given a second chance!" Wait, what!? I turned to face Valt who was staring at Daigo. What did Valt just say? We're given a second chance?

Daigo immediately jumped off the pile of rubble and wobbled as he tried to take a step. "Woah, there! Relax, are you hurt?" Honcho asked.

"I'm fine!" It looked like his body was basically a wreck at this point, but the spirit that was once dead lit up inside all of us. "Now, what's the second chance about?" Daigo asked. 

I watched as Honcho extended his arms out and Daigo just took it for support. Maybe I shouldn't push myself too hard too. I can barely stand at this point and my legs feel like noodles. Holding onto a pile of debris for support, I decided to look at the damage. Glancing down at my body, I had a few scratches, and my clothes were a bit torn. For a moment, I felt sore. As if I slept for a hours on a heap of rubble and debris. How long was I out for?

No, that doesn't matter. I noticed that Honcho was pointing at the driver who was squeezing Lui and that small girl, Jasmine. I remember her running right for Gator and trying to grab the Beyblade. If she were to do that, then was one of her ancestors a part of this village? 

Before I knew it, we were all creating a circle around the three. I was able to hear their loud sobs with their faces buried into one another. I'm guessing Lui's driver was worried sick about Lui and Jasmine. Looking away, I clenched my hand into a face. This ugly grudge, I can't help but let it continue.
