Sneaking a smile, I kept my hands on my little brother's eyes. Keeping them shut from what's he's about to see. Even though Valt lost by Lui in the individual tournament, that doesn't mean that everybody should lose hope.

"Diago, are you kidnapping me?" I chuckled at the little boy's question.

"No, Ryota. I'm not kidnapping you. Just you wait." Keeping my hands on his eyes, I knocked on Shu's apartment door.  Creeking, the door open as we crept into the dark apartment.

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY, RYOTA!!!!" we screamed, making my brother's eyes light in excitement.

"EEEEEEEEE! You guys remembered!" Ryota shouted, running towards Toko and Nika with open arms. I smiled as the three give each other a warm hug.

"Okay little bro, we can start only if you calm down," I stated.

"Woo-hoo! Let's play! Wait no, I want my cake first!" Ryota shouted. I chuckled and nodded at Shu to get the cake. Nodding back, he left as he brings back in a metal cart with a white sheet covering the surprise underneath.

"Hey, Ryota! You asked for a cake, well here's your cake!" I chanted as I pulled off the sheet. The cake appeared like magic. It was 3 thick layers of vanilla frosting which was still fresh that with one breath of air could ruin it. 'HAPPY BIRTHDAY RYOTA!' written in red gel and black icing covered all over the mountain to give it a final touch.

"OOOOO! AHHHHHH!" everyone gasped.

"I WANT CAKE!" Valt suddenly shouted as he ran towards the giant cake.

"Valt, your not the birthday boy! Ryota is, so get your big head out of the cake!" Wakiya ordered as he tried to pull Valt away from the cake.

"Aw come on Wakiya! You never let me do anything!"

"But as the captain of this team, you need to have your own limits and rules!"

"Ok, but as the captain of the team, I GET TO EAT THE ENTIRE CAKE!"

"Valt, NO!"

"Common!"

"NO!"

I snickered to myself as Wakiya struggled to pull Valt away. 'Oh Valt, you never change.' Giving in, I tried to break them up by splitting them apart from each other. Instead, logic had its own definition and I ended up sitting on top of Valt on the floor.

"Uh Diago, could you get your crazy self off me!" he screamed. Meanwhile, Shu came to the rescue by extending an arm to help pull me up. The second I got back up, I took a moment to glance at the present he was carrying. It was a small box with bents all around, forming squares all over the cube covered in red metallic wrapping paper. It was almost like a cage. I asked him what it was because I didn't want my friend giving my little brother some crazy animal.

"I don't know. My neighbor said he heard it was Ryota's birthday so, he gave me this." Taking the blinding box, I turned the cube 360. "I think it's a fish," Shu guessed. Shrugging the shivers off my spine, I still got a sickening feeling from it. Sighing, I just turned to Ken who was just staring. He just stood there, gazing blankly at Ryota. As a result, I snapped my fingers in front of his face. "Hey Ken, are you okay?"

"Uh, yeah Diago. I'm a-okay." My eyebrows narrowed closer together, however, what upset me the most was that his voice wasn't soft and calmed, but it was hollow.

Forgetting what just happened for a moment, Shu pulled the cake in front of Ryota as we sang, "Happy Birthday," to him. By the time we were done, he began to make a long wish as the candle wax dripped the seconds away. Finally, when he blew the flames, the candles cooled immediately.
