"That was bloody brilliant!" I heard someone call from a ways down the Gryffindor table.

The great hall was filled with ecstatic students who were just beginning to fall off of the high that was the Halloween feast. This year Dumbledore had a group of dancing house-elves who branched off of an old American group called the Tiny Trotters.

I was perhaps one of the most excited, practically giddy. I always enjoyed the feast but house-elves made it that much better, seeing a group of house elves that were free and living their own lives was amazing, not to say that the Hogwarts house-elves are in any way mistreated.

Sirius and James had been shovelling food into their mouths non-stop since it appeared on the table even though most everyone had finished eating by now.

I took a moment to admire Remus and how he could just stare at Sirius completely unaware of everything else around him, the poor guy was completely and utterly whipped and he hadn't the slightest clue.

"Whacha looking at Moony?" I insinuated catching his attention along with everyone else's, except Sirius of course who was too distracted with the food in front of him.

He practically choked on his pumpkin juice as he moved his eyes to mine.

"Nothing...Monty" earning a giggle from James and me.

Sirius seemed to think the perfect opportunity to steal food off my plate had presented itself as he reached for an untouched drumstick that was left on my plate with a few other things.

I whacked his hand away with the bottom of my butterbeer, crushing it probably more than necessary.

"Blimey!" Sirius shrieked, girlishly while he rubbed his other hand over his knuckles. "Was that necessary?"

"Sirius-" I stated rather sternly "Keep it up and I'll cut it off next time"

I'm rather protective of my food touch it and I'll probably kill you or at least try to, even if I have no intention of eating it. Though in this case, I did.

"Merlin, you're grumpy" spoke James who had now run out of food and apparently interesting things to say "especially for someone who just watched her favourite magical creatures dance around for an hour"

"Sorry" I lamented, I wasn't lying I would cut his damn hand off but I was being rather mean.

"Whats put you in such a bad mood?" Remus pondered deciding he should speak up about something that wasn't related to how enthralled he was with Sirius' eating habits.

"I know what it is.." James chanted rather dauntingly.

He and Sirius exchanged a look and burst out laughing, chanting "She has detention, she has detention"

"Oh piss off!" snapping at the two of them still angry about what happened "I didn't even do anything"

"Did we ever figure out why?"

That was something I hadn't mentioned to them, I told them about it claiming that it was ridiculous and I shouldn't have to go anyway, not to mention there was no possible way I could have lost the bet for something I didn't do.  Not that they listened.

"Uhhh-" not sure what to say that would sound like a reasonable lie "Sprout said she didn't know but she was gonna find out and it was best for me to go any way till she found out why"

"Time to accept your defeat Monty?" Sirius inquired menacingly conveying his excitement at my downfall.

"Never!" I wasn't going down not without a fight "Now if you'll excuse me, duty calls"
