Zenitsu POV
Zenitsu was stressed. They hadn't organized a place to meet, or even a specific time! It was overwhelming how ignorant they were when saying goodbye. Suspiciously enough, though, he hadn't taken anything. Just a very small sack tied to his belt, which looked as though nothing was in it.
I will be the first to admit, I am curious what's in the drawer. Well, I know what's in the drawer, but what's in the diary?
Zenitsu sneakily crept up the stairs, through the narrow hallway, and into Tanjiro's room. Once there, Zenitsu tugged on the handle of the drawer. No use. Pulling harder, the only result was a high-pitched creaking. To which Zenitsu responded by covering his ears, pressing his palms firmly to his ears, wincing.
"Zenitsu?" He yelped and turned around like a tornado, "Oh, uh, hi Kanao..." Zenitsu eyed her suspiciously, "What are you doing here...?" He asked, not even trying to hide his suspicious tone. "You first..." Kanao responded, also eyeing him suspiciously. "I was..." Zenitsu gulped loudly, "I was trying to open the drawer, okay!?" Kanao stuck her head out the door, making sure nobody had heard his and, or maybe making sure nobody was going to hear her answer, either.
"That's why I'm in here, too..." She admitted, ashamed. "That's great!" Zenitsu answered, "That way we have two brains, four hands, and an endless amount of ideas!" "Couldn't we have had an endless amount of ideas either way...?" "Kanao, any ideas?" Kanao paused, "We could try..." Kanao stopped and pondered a moment, answering, "Have you tried simply picking the lock?" Zenitsu stared blankly at her, "I'm such an idiot..."
Kanao POV
It's been almost two whole hours. Two hours of non-stop thinking of ideas, trying them, realizing they don't work, and then restarting the entire process. Burning, cutting, lock picks, nothing worked! This single cabinet was basically just a walking giant brick. Kanao suddenly had an obvious idea, a simple, extremely obvious idea. "What if we just..." Kanao paused, "What?" Zenitsu urged her on.
"What if we just threw it out the window...?" Kanao said, curious as to why they didn't think of it before. "We could try..." Zenitsu replied, skeptical. Kanao on the right, Zenitsu on the left, they hoisted the cabinet up. "T-This is d-damn heavy!" Zenitsu said, trembling under the weight. Even Kanao, who went through heavy training was struggling. Obviously not as much as Zenitsu, but when Kanao struggles, you know it's heavy.
"One..." Kanao started, "On three?!" Zenitsu asked, "Two..." "ARE WE GOING ON THREE?!" Zenitsu screeched, "Three!" They both hurled it out the window. Which, fortunately, was opened. It soared out the window, landing on the ground with a very pronounced thump.
Kanao stuck her head out the window, "It broke!" Kanao said, excitedly. As the two had a mini cheering session, they realized that they need to find and clean it up before Aoi. "Quick let's-" Zenitsu wasn't able to finish as Kanao leaped out the window, athletically landing in a kneeling position on the ground. Zenitsu stared, "I think I'll just use the stairs..."
Zenitsu POV
Oh I can't wait! What could be inside? Oh I'm so curious I think I'll explode out of curiosity! Kanao and Zenitsu shared a glance, and opened the half broken drawer. "It's a...!" Zenitsu stopped, "It's a...? What is that?" Zenitsu stared, then realized. "Is that a...?" Kanao stared at him, "You're stalling." She said, "Neither of us have any idea what it is." Inside the drawer were two very small objects, with an interestingly charming design. Little did these two know, inside this box was Tanjiro's most prized possession...
The Hanafuda Earrings.
