You would think being a witch would be an easy life, unfortuantly thats not the case, well if you were a compatant witch it would be. I am eighteen years old and have yet to perfect a single spell, don't get me wrong I can cast them just not the way your supposed too.

Its not about broomsticks and couldrens, it's about centering yourself and finding the power within. For me I always seem to be off centre in everything I do. Witches needed their counterparts to truly make them strong a bit like a werewolf would need their mates, unfortunately for me I haven't  found mine. I was starting to despair I ever would, most of our kind had formed a relationship with their counterparts when they were young, I was obviously the exception. As witches our Coven was pretty laid back, we were a community, a family although that didn't stop them from taking the piss out of me whenever they got the chance.

I had been up early this morning trying to perfect my make up spell, twenty minuets had passed, my hair had green highlights, my cheeks looked like I had been slapped repeatadly and my lips were purple.

With a sigh I waved my hand across my face and groaned in frustration, nothing happened. Time was running out for me and I was running out of options. Slamming my hands on my dresser I stalked to my bedroom door and flung it open with force.

"STACEY"

A beep outside announced my best friend Kara's arrival, at this rate I was never going to make it to school. I was lucky that Kara was my constant, my tie to the human realm. Each witch was given a constant to help them adjust to living a normal life. I could rely on Kara for anything not only was she my best friend but she was also my protector, she would go to any lengths to ensure that my secret is kept hidden , that the Coven's secret is kept hidden.

The sound of laughter had me narrowing my eyes and glaring in the mirror at the image of my sister, she held her hand over her mouth trying to keep her laugh at bay. Stacey never had any problems with magic, she was always a picture of perfection. Luckily for her she had found her counterpart when she was eight, Jasper was like my annoying older brother and I would never tell Stacey but sometimes watching the bond they have would make me yearn for what she has .Sighing I turned to face her.

"Just help me will you."

Stacey giggled and held up her phone making me groan. "You know what we have to do first!"

It had become a ritual with me and my sister to document every spell that went wrong, I was beating her hands down. Instantly transforming I posed and smiled for the picture. Stacey came and posistioned herself to my right, closing our eyes Stacey placed her hands over mine and we slowly pulled our hands down over my face. I scrunched my nose up as I looked at my reflection, back to plain old boring me. Stacey stood behind me smoothing my sleek black curls as I quickly and manually I might add swiped my pink lip gloss across my lips.

"You don't need make up anyway Olly, I don't know how many times I have to tell you this."

"Thanks sis" I stood up and gave her a quick hug before grabbing my back pack  and practically setting my neck as I sprinted down the stairs. Running in to the kitchen I gave my mom a quick kiss and ruffled the hair of my baby sister Amelia, she was eighteen months old, adorable and trouble all rolled into one. The sound of a horn beeping again made me jump.

"Sorry guys gotta run, see you tonight."

I rushed outside to see Kara drumming her fingers impatiently on the steering wheel. Her blonde hair was piled on top of her head , I could see she was wearing her favourite white t-shirt and dungarees. Pulling down her red sunglasses so they perched on the end of her nose her eyes focuses on me and I could already see they were full of laughter.

"What?" I questioned as I opened the door and slid in.

Kara held up her phone, a picture of my latest disaster taking up the whole screen.

" God dammit is nothing sacred anymore! If Stacey sends you one more of those pictures I'm going to kill her."

Kara laughed as she pulled away from the curb.

" How many times have I told you Olly no magic before school, one of these days Stacey won't be there to help you with your disastrous  spells."

Scrunching my nose up at her I whined  "It was a simple spell Kara and if I wasn't so rushed I would have got it right."

We both looked at each and laughed who was I kidding the simpler the spells the more drama I caused.

"So....." Kara began, I could practically feel the excitement in the air.

" Spit it out Kara, I'm on tenderhooks here." I said in a bored tone.

" Well I heard through the grapevine that Callum is going to as you out." She squealed.

I groaned and thumped my head off the side window. Callum White was so not my type, this would be the third time he has asked me and despite Kara's protests my answer would still be a big fat resounding no.

"Come on Olly, third times the charm why don't you give him a chance."

" I am not going to tell you again, I don't like the way he looks at me and I can't stand that stupid stud he has in his ear."

"Okay, okay ." Kara laughed  " At least your prepared."

The rest of the ride was silent as we both got lost in our thoughts, just as we made the turning into the school Kara floored me with her next comment.

"Oh and I forgot to mention there is a new family in town, there part of the Drake clan."

Just great a new set of Vampires to make fun of the useless witch, I let out a huge sigh this day was just getting better and better.
