Here's a super lame and super cheesy one shot (:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It was 9am on a Monday morning. Beca hadn't been awake this early in years. She felt groggy and couldn't stop death staring everyone around her. The brunette was never really a morning person. She wouldn't have even said yes to this if it wasn't for Chloe.
"Here you go." Chloe handed Beca a large black coffee (Beca said it was just like her soul). The ginger had a bright smile on her face. "Hopefully this will stop you from being so grumpy."
"I'm not grumpy."
"Yes, you are." Chloe giggled and kissed Beca on the forehead, "but that's okay because coffee will help. So, drink."
Beca couldn't help but smile, "fine. Thank you."
The two girls stood watching the show in front of them as they waited on the side-stage of the Barden University lecture hall. Currently the Head of Sociology was speaking to the crowd of potential Barden University students and their parents.
A young man dressed in black with headphones approached them cautiously.
"H-hi. Sorry to bother you. Here's your microphones. I-I'm sure you know how to use them." He passed the pair two stage microphones.
The dude was so awkward that Beca actually felt sorry for him. "Thank you, yeah we do." The brunette smiled.
The man did a weird little nod and bow and awkwardly walked away.
Beca smiled, "reminds me of Benji when we were in College."
"Oh yeah! Remember when he couldn't even say a full sentence to Emily?" Chloe laughed, "look at them now!"
Beca laughed and fondly remembered their friends.
The Dean of Barden University approached them. He was dressed in a black suit and had a greying, receding hair line, with black glasses. "Hello, Beca and Chloe."
"Hi." Chloe responded with a smile.
"Hey."
"Now, before you two go on stage, I just wanted to clarify that you will stick to the script that we gave you." The Dean didn't even try to hide that he was referring to Beca when he said this. He looked at her right in the eyes.
"Of course." Chloe responded.
The Dean stared at Beca and waited for a response.
"We will." Beca nodded.
"Okay, good. You two are up next, good luck." He smiled and walked away.
"Good to see he's still a total dick." Beca murmured, making Chloe laugh.
"I still can't believe he didn't let us sing the National Anthem at the Puppy Bowl."
Beca couldn't help but smile at Chloe's comment. Only Chloe would prioritize the Puppy Bowl over anything else. Beca held Chloe's hand. "I know that was hard for you." She said in a half mocking, half caring tone.
"It was!"
"I know." Beca giggled, making Chloe giggle too.
Chris, the Head of Sociology wrapped up his presentation and exited the stage. The host walked onto stage from the other side to replace him.
"Thank you, Chris!" the audience applauded. "Now, up next we have something very special for you. I know a lot of you have travelled from all around the country for this presentation. So, I won't make you wait any longer. Here to represent the importance of pursuing the arts and music here at Barden University, we have two, world-class, collectively 4-time Grammy Award Winning musicians. Please welcome, Beca and Chloe Mitchell!"
The crowd erupted into cheers, whistles and applause.
Beca and Chloe entered the stagehand-in-hand. The crowd somehow managed to cheer even louder, one girl even threw a pink bra onto stage, making the two women laugh. One of the security guards quickly swept it away and returned to his position at the bottom on the stage.
Beca and Chloe took their positions behind the podium and placed down their printed speech, ready to read. The crowd calmed down in anticipation for their presentation.
"Thank you!" Beca smiled, "and thank you." She nodded towards the girl who threw the bra, making the crowd cheer again. Chloe gave Beca a playful shove and laughed.
Once the crowd calmed down again, Chloe began to read out the speech.
"Now, you may be wondering what we're doing here, back at Barden University, so many years after graduating. We're here because we want to share the importance of pursuing a career in the arts in College, in particularly, music."
Beca continued, "during our time here at Barden University, Chloe and I were co-captains of the Barden Bellas," Beca went off script with a grin, "otherwise known as the ridiculously cool, not lame at all, acapella group, where all of the sound came from our mouths."
The crowd laughed and the two women gave each other knowing glances, remembering how the ginger had said that to Beca the very first time they met. Beca noticed the Dean glaring at her with his arms crossed from side stage.
Beca continued to speak off script, "now, the Dean was very clear to us about not going off script. But we've only said three sentences from the script, and I already want to die." The crowd laughed, "so, instead, we're just going to say whatever we want." Chloe rolled her eyes with a smile; she had a feeling her wife would do this. "If you want to get out there into the industry, move to LA and pay your dues, don't go to College." Beca said bluntly, receiving a gasp from the crowd. "To be honest, that's what I wanted to do when I first arrived here. I only arrived here because my father forced me to. And I only stayed because... well, Chloe was here." The brunette winked. "However. After joining this weirdo in her weird acapella group, I made my first group of real friends. The kind of friends who support you through anything. Now that's super cheesy and I hated saying that, but it's the truth. Chloe can tell you firsthand that I was sour, bitter and a bit of a bitch my entire first year here at Barden."
Chloe nodded, "it's true. She was a pain in the ass." The crowd laughed. "But, with the support of the Barden Bellas and the work that we put into something we love, to achieve a goal together, Beca turned into slightly less of a pain in the ass."
Beca laughed, "I can honestly say, that I would not be here standing in front of you, giving a presentation about joining stupid clubs, and pursuing the arts if I didn't join the Barden Bellas. Mostly because Chloe forced me to be here today, but also because it's only now that I understand the importance of friendship and pursuing what you love. For example, did you guys know that before joining the Bellas, Chloe was going to be an exotic dancer?"
The crowd cheered and Chloe went bright red. She interrupted Beca, "actually! I was going to teach underprivileged kids how to sing. Exotic dancing was just my backup..."
Beca laughed, "I'm definitely sleeping on the couch tonight after that comment." Chloe nodded in agreement. "Anyway, our point is. If you want genuine friends, connections and actually want to have fun - join clubs, join the arts, pursue what you love."
"That's right." Chloe continued, "if Beca didn't do that, she'd probably still be working at the radio station on the night shift." The crowd laughed at this too.
"It's true."
"So. Do what you love, pursue your passions and join clubs in College. It worked for us." Chloe smiled, finishing the presentation.
The crowd erupted into cheers and the Dean walked onto stage looking like he was extremely constipated and pissed off at the two women.
"Thank you, Mrs and Mrs Mitchell."
"You're welcome." Beca smiled.
The Dean cleared his throat, "how about we move on, I think that's a good idea. Up next we have James, the Head of Biology!"
The Dean ushered the two women off stage. The couple smiled. Chloe waved to the crowd and Beca put up her rude finger.
