Nashira woke up in a strange and warm bed. She felt herself begin to panic until the memories of the previous day began to flood back. With a sigh she let herself relax in to the soft bed. From one cage to another. From Vampires to Wolves.

She groaned and rubbed her face. Was it better? Was it worse? She would hopefully find out today, along with hatching a new escape plan.

Her thoughts were interrupted by the sound of her lock being opened. After it a short knock and then Orion's voice. "Breakfast is ready downstairs if you are hungry."

If her breakfast was going to be in the same vein as her dinner yesterday, she wasn't going to be told twice. She stood up and looked doubtfully at her clothes from yesterday. She had slept in her underwear so that her clothes would be a little wrinkle-free, but only now did she see how wretched they were. Tears and stains fought each other for precedence and the whole thing was pathetic.

What would Orion think of seeing her like this? she wondered. She immediately cursed herself for those thoughts. It didn't matter at all what that beast would think of her. In the back of her mind, a little voice said that she was wrong, but she resolutely ignored it. She didn't want to fall into the good graces of the big bad Wolf. She had to get home as soon as possible.

When she opened the door, she saw a pile of neatly folded clothes lying on the floor. It seemed as if he had read her mind and wanted to help her. She shook her head, helping her as long as she could help him. She should not expect anything for free, she'd learned that yesterday.

The delicious smells coming from the kitchen almost made her swoon. She walked down the stairs and was greeted by a roomful of Wolves. They all turned to her in one breath. Here and there a few threatening growls came her way. She was startled and almost ran back up the stairs, but in a flash, Orion was standing in front of her.

"Just ignore them. As long as you are a guest of the Alpha you are safe."

With downcast eyes, she let Orion lead her to a table in the corner. "I'll be right back with your food. Any preference for anything in particular?"

"Hot chocolate," Nashira blurted out.

He nodded and went to the breakfast bar.

A handsome older lady approached her determinedly. She wished she could crawl inside herself so that the attention would go away from her, but the lady had already reached her table. After a brief inspecting look, she extended her hand and with brief hesitation, Nashira took it.

"Welcome to the pack. I'm Conny the old Luna and if Adam or Orion treat you badly, just let me know so I can deal with them."

With an open mouth, she stared at the woman. That was the nicest thing anyone had said to her in a long time and she didn't know how to react. She felt that the woman really meant it and did not just say it. She felt... at home. Not the most appropriate word in a room surrounded by Wolves that could tear her to pieces. For one reason or another, it was the only thing that made sense. After a brief nod, Conny walked away, leaving Nashira staring open-mouthed.

In no time at all, Orion returned with a platter containing two plates loaded with food and two steaming cups. As soon as the plate was in front of her, Nashira attacked. She tried everything; the sausages, potatoes, and beans she tasted, but the eggs and bacon were quickly gobbled up.

She wanted to eat all of it, but the plate was much bigger than her stomach. As soon as her belly was full, she took hold of the cup with both hands and inhaled the delicious smell of hot chocolate. With the best will in the world, she could not stop the moan that escaped her lips.

The growl Orion uttered in response made her blush again. His growl hadn't instilled fear like the ones from the other Wolves did. It stoked the fire that was growing inside her. She didn't know what to do with this new feeling.

She had always felt cold with the Vampires, detached from the cruel reality they had locked her in. Now that she was free, she could dare allow herself to feel again. Her body had decided that Orion was the person that could make her feel everything again, but her mind wasn't ready for it.

She looked at him and, to her surprise, saw that his plate was cleared to the last crumb. He looked with half an eye at the two-thirds of her plate that was still untouched. Without saying a word, she pushed it forward. With a grateful smile, he began to eat it.

While he was busy devouring the food, she watched him quietly. Now that he was not threatening her, he was quite attractive. All supernatural creatures were attractive in their own way, purely because of the power they held, but Orion was more than that. She had never been attracted to any of the Vampires who held her captive. They had never wanted her in that way. Not wanting to taint her delicious blood that they so craved.

She looked around the room and none of the Wolves there could even match him. He was just perfect in her eyes. In the back of her mind, this rang a bell, but she couldn't put her finger on it.

After Orion had licked his fingers with relish, he leaned back and caught her eye. She quickly averted hers. She shouldn't give the Wolf more power than he already had by showing him her interest as well.

Suddenly the mood changed. Orion cleared his throat and in a stern voice he said, "Well, let's get started."

Nashira looked up in surprise at Orion's steely face. Where was the jovially smiling man of two seconds ago? She shook her head. That was her deserved reward for thinking it was all going to be moonlight and roses. He was, is and would always remain a Wolf. She averted her gaze and looked out of the large windows. The sun was shining and she could feel the warmth through the window.

"Can we sit outside?" she asked cautiously.

"Euhm, yes of course. I don't see why not," Orion said with a shrug.

They cleared their dishes away and walked to the benches outside. They were surrounded by other shifters who looked at her in disgust. But when one of the male Wolf's eyes lingered a little too long on her, Orion let out a low warning growl and the man quickly moved on.

Nashira's plans to escape disappeared like snow in the sun. It wouldn't work in a day. Her escape from the Vampires had taken 10 months of patience and she wouldn't be able to do it immediately. She had to gain Orion's trust and then when he least expected it, she would strike.

She turned her face to the sun and closed her eyes. "What beautiful weather today," she sighed.

This was the first time she could quietly enjoy the warm light on her skin. She would probably burn quickly, but she didn't care. She felt alive again, she felt part of nature. Whatever the Wolves would do, they would not be able to take this moment away from her.

She felt her powers slowly growing. A Witch's strength came from nature, from all the living things around her. Five years of being surrounded by nothing but death and destruction had weakened her powers.

"Ask any questions you like, Wolf," she said without giving him a glance.
