Orion gave his report to Adam. The information he had gathered from Nashira so far was invaluable. They knew how often the Vampires had to feed, how long they could stay outside, what their weaknesses were, where their clan was located. All that information would help them prevent future attacks and possibly plan one themselves.
He admired his little Witch so much for the strength she had shown so far. The things she had gone through were bad enough, but to have to recount and relive them all again showed an incredible inner strength. The type of strength that would make any Wolf proud. His Wolf had also become more and more of a fan of her and every time they were near her, Levi became restless and wanted to smell, taste and touch her.
Finally, the Vampire stench had faded away and her natural sweet and fresh scent intoxicated him. It was a mixture of chocolate covered oranges mixed with something fresh like mint or basil. The internal battle he had to fight each time became more and more difficult. He was drawn to her in ways he couldn't explain. But with the stench gone the other single Wolves' interest had also been piqued.
He shook his head when his inner Wolf howled again to go back to Nashira. It was an assignment, a task he had been given by his Alpha. As a Delta, he could be used anywhere, wherever required. He was often sent to other packs to gather and share information. Orion hoped to get away soon and hopefully lose Levi's obsession for his little Witch.
Adam saw that he was staring distractedly at the door and chuckled. "Do you want to go back to your fiery little Witch?"
"What?" asked Orion distractedly.
Adam laughed out loud. "Yeah man, you've got it bad."
"I don't," Orion growled at him. He wanted to wipe the amused look off Adam's face, but he knew it wasn't worth the pain. "Just give me my next assignment and I'll be on my way."
Adam looked at him thoughtfully. "I want you to focus on the Witch for a while longer. I think she could be a valuable asset to the pack if you can keep her here."
Keep Nashira here? The longer he was with her, the harder it was to resist her, but he had to. He would not be able to look his destined Mate in the eye, when he found her, knowing that he had done things that were only reserved for paired Wolves, those who had a connection forged by the Moon Goddess.
Adam would not understand it. He had gladly used the willing female Wolves who waited with legs open for a Mate, especially the Alpha, since he had not found his Mate at 18. Orion didn't condemn other Wolves' actions. After all, Wolves were sexual creatures and sexual pleasure and release were necessary to keep their animal side in check, but Orion felt he should restrain his sexual needs for his Mate. It would mean something more than just a physical bond when he gave himself fully to his Mate.
His parents had found each other at a young age and had only known each other in the most intimate ways. He found that beautiful and hoped to experience the same with his Mate.
"Why don't you take a break from the Witch and I'll let Marcus take over for a while..."
"No," Orion said furiously. "I don't need anyone to take over my assignment. I have her trust now. It would take Marcus or anyone else too much time to build that trust."
His thoughts of leaving had faded. He could not allow anyone to push Nashira back into her shell. They had made so much progress lately and if anyone should ask her to stay, it should be him. Just the thought of an unmated male near his little Witch made his Wolf growl in displeasure.
Adam raised his hands dismissively. "If you think you're the best candidate then..."
"Of course. I've already spent so much time with her I'm not going to let someone ruin all that," Orion said irritably. "I'll do my job and when it's done then you can give me my next assignment."
Agitated, he stalked out of the room, not noticing his Alpha's smug grin.
He went in search of Nashira using his sense of smell and when he found her in the kitchen, laughing out loud with Marcus, he saw red. With a growl, he made his presence known and immediately Nashira and Marcus turned to him. Marcus looked amused, Nashira alarmed. Threateningly, he took a step forward, his eyes focused on Marcus.
"Nope, man" Marcus said and raised his hands. "Not worth my life!"
Quickly, he walked out, leaving them alone in the kitchen. Like a predator stalking his prey, Orion prowled towards her. Nashira looked at him appraisingly. She wasn't afraid as he had expected, but rather amused.
"Does the big bad Wolf want to play?" she asked with a smile.
Before he knew it, she had fired one of her sparks at him. The temporary confusion it caused gave her just enough time to run, laughing, out of the kitchen towards the forest.
His grin could only be described as wolfish. His little Witch wanted to play, and Orion wanted to hunt.
Nashira got an amazing head start for a human, but eventually, he managed to catch her. Laughing and whooping, he was able to pull her to the ground. He turned so that he took the fall and she would land on him, not harming her delicate body.
Suddenly, the laughter stuck in his throat when he felt her full weight on him and her body seemed to mould to his. He had hold of her hips and she had put her hands on his chest to push off, but instead of pushing, her hands gripped his T-shirt tightly.
Their lips were so close that he could taste her breath and his Wolf howled with pleasure. Her delicious scent surrounded him and his body reacted immediately. His muscles tensed and his cock sprung up. Almost, almost, he kissed her. Just in time, he was able to stop himself by the thought of being faithful to his future Mate. He did it for her and he would not betray her.
He turned his head away and stared fixedly at a tree nearby. He tried with all his might to calm his desires and get his thoughts back onto safer ground. Finally, the moment passed, and blushing, Nashira climbed off him.
"Good hunting," she said with a small smile.
