Nashira looked at the Alpha, still with venom in her eyes. He was smarter than she had thought and he knew she had no choice. "You think you know what I need."

Her strength had been replenished with the power she felt around her. She reached out and grabbed his arm. She closed her eyes and used all her mental powers to see what his deepest desire was. A trick her father had always used on the shop's customers. She had a natural ability to see visions that could be the future of that person. Of course, they could then sell them whatever was needed to make sure that vision came true. It had been impossible to use on Vampires, but she felt that it would work on Wolves.

She felt his pain, his anger, and his longing... Someone to share his life with, a Mate. She saw a beautiful woman with sadness in her eyes walking away from the Alpha who was screaming with grief and a large black Wolf howling at the moon. Before she could see more, her hand was torn away.

The Alpha looked at her furiously. The man who had captured her, Orion the Alpha had called him, had pulled her away from him. As soon as she stopped touching the Alpha, Orion let go of her as if he had burned his hands.

She ignored her rescuer and looked inquiringly at the Alpha. She saw something else in his eyes, fear. It was minimal compared to the immense power the Alpha was emitting, but the little bit was enough for Nashira to take advantage of it.

"I know what you need," she laughed maniacally. "You will see everyone around you find their happiness, and when you think you've found yours, she will run away from you."

The Alpha's eyes changed; the fleeting sadness vanishing replaced by a steely stare. He grabbed her hand again and looked her cold in the eyes.

"Can you also see what we do to our enemies?" The visions she saw this time were filled with blood and terror. She gasped and tried pulling her hand out of his. "Careful who you threaten, little one," he said.

His voice radiated with power and this time she had to look away. Only when he was satisfied, she would not cause any more trouble, did he let go and nodded to her rescuer. Without another glance at her, he walked out of the room.

Orion looked at her with anger. "If Adam hadn't given the order to treat you as a guest, you'd be in the dungeon by now for the way you spoke to our Alpha."

"Your Alpha, not mine," she objected. She was not a member of a clan, a pack, or a coven. No one could give her orders and no one would ever lock her up again. "Where is that hospitality and food that your Alpha promised me?"

Orion shook with anger and balled his hands into fists, tendons straining, as if he wanted to do more than just rebuke her. He calmed himself, shook his head disapprovingly and walked out of the room. She could do nothing but follow him.

He walked through the village at a fast pace and Nashira caught glimpses of other people here and there. No, not people, Wolf shifters, she quickly corrected herself. Everyone, including the doctor, was a shifter, she was positive of that. They all had the same double aura around them.

He stopped at the largest building in the village to see if she was still following him. As soon as she reached the door, he walked on in. She could not hide her awe as she walked into the beautiful building. It was the complete opposite of the rooms where Vampires lived.

Everything felt warm, cosy and homely. The walls were covered with wood, the couches were made of dark brown soft looking leather, and the large windows which overlooked the forest beyond brought in so much natural light that Nashira felt as if she were outside. She could almost smell the fresh forest air.

For the last five years, she had been surrounded by marble and silk. The Vampires' rooms had been beautiful in their bleakness, but she had always felt lost in them, shrouded in darkness with only dim artificial light. Only needed as a blood slave, any non-conformity was immediately punished. Without a single window, it had been impossible to tell the days from the nights.
