I woke sometime around six in the morning by a “bloop” sound that was set for my blog’s IM notification. I looked towards my laptop, and squinted my eyes trying to see the blinking message box. Standing up, and throwing the blankets away from my body, I walked over to the computer desk. I leaned in towards the laptop screen, and peered at the writing in the message box.
Unknown user: Hey, I’ve read your blog before, and I absolutely love reading it.”
I pulled my chair out, and sat down, placing my fingers on the keyboard, I started typing.
Emo Kid: Hi. I’m glad to hear that you like my blog!
Unknown User: I myself, am having some problems. I’m gay myself.
I stared at the last line the person had sent. “I’m gay myself.” He admitted this, and my brain was going a million miles a second. This had to be a miracle, could this be someone that I could be with. I stroked the keys of the keyboard, thinking of what to say. My brain started to think of the different possibilities. Maybe we could meet up, or send pictures to each other like pen pals.
“Bloop.”
Unknown User: Mind sending me a picture of you?
I smiled slightly, and then stood up quickly, snatching up my digital SLR Nikon camera. I walked towards the full length mirror, on the other side of my bed. I stared at the mirror, and then shifted slightly, pushing my hair back. The black strands fell back around my face, causing a frame to appear around my face. I turned the camera so that it would get the full view of the mirror, and I stared at the screen of the camera. Once I liked what I saw, I snapped the picture, and scurried back over to my laptop.
“Bloop.”
I stared down at the message box, reading the new message.
Unknown User: You don’t have to if you don’t want to.
I pulled the sd card from the camera, and then pushed it into my laptop, transferring all of the pictures over to the computer. I clicked the send file button on the chat box, and then peered through the photos, looking for the one I had just taken. Selecting it, I cropped it slightly to a fairly good size, and sent the image. I tapped my toes impatiently on the floor, waiting for a response.
Unknown user: You are friggin hot!
Emo Kid: Thanks.
I blushed at the compliment, and leaned back in my chair pulling it closer to my desk.
Unknown user: No problem, it’s too bad that you live in New York.
Emo Kid: Oh?
Unknown user: I live in England. A world away from you.
Emo Kid: Not that far away, but that sucks. I should probably go now… I got school in a few hours, and I really need to have a shower.
I typed my good-bye, and then stood up pushing my chair away with the back of my knees. I collected up my towel, and then walked up the stairs heading for the bathroom. My father was already awake, staring mindlessly at the T.V. like the couch potato he was. I tried my best sneaking past my father, but I had no luck in doing so.
“Get over here.” He grunted, sitting up in his chair.
I mumbled to myself that I was trying to have a shower. My gaze kept to the floor, and I reached the chair slowly.
“Yes?” I asked politely.
“How about you join me for some T.V.”
“I was going to go have a shower.”
“You will join me.” He said yanking me down onto his chair by my wrist.
Fear glazed over my eyes, my first reaction was to try, and get away from him. My father quickly threw me to the floor, and stood up, yanking his belt from the loops of his jeans. I swallowed whatever insults that had risen up into my throat, and I pushed away from him with my feet. My father reached out, grabbed my ankle, and pulled me towards him. I was twisted around, and my shirt yanked up over my head, and I felt the leather of the belt hit my back. Pain seared across the length of my back, and I pressed my stomach against the floor. Tears fell from my eyes, and streamed down my cheeks; drying, and cracking.

I laid on the bottom of the tub, the water from the shower head raining down on my sore, bruised body. I had been laying in the shower for several hours, the water wasn’t even hot now, it was just cold. Eventually I did turn the water off, and climb out of the tub, with much care since my back was bruised pretty badly. I wrapped my towel around my waist, and then slowly trudged from the bathroom, and down to my bedroom. I was several hours late for school, but there was still time for me to make it to school for the last two classes of the day. I closed my bedroom door, and then went about trying to find something to wear. I went with my usual attire. Black jeans, and a tight t-shirt covered in a baggy hoodie.
I left the house immediately, and then headed to the school. I spent the rest of the so called school day, dealing with history class, and a math lecture. Afterwards, I went to my locker to gather up my stuff to head home. The halls of Gulliver High were covered in preps, and only preps. After gathering my stuff, I headed to the front door. I noticed a group of preps constantly looking over at me, and motioning to, meaning that they were talking about me. I watched from the corner of my eye as they neared me, and saddled up to my sides.
“Hey, look a bloody emo kid.”
I growled, and looked at the guy who spoke from beneath my bangs. “Can I help you?”
“Yeah, You can. I’m looking for a black haired, emo boy to beat up.”
“Well I don’t see one, so you’re going to have to look somewhere else.”
“Oh really?”
I smirked, and then moved my bag on my shoulder. “Really.”
I walked away from them, and then pushed out of the school. I sighed, and then went off to the subway station. Once there I waited for my transportation to take me home. I questioned what I was going to do once I got home, or at least what was going to happen. I entered the house, and then closed the door behind me.
“WHERE THE FUCK HAVE YOU BEEN?!”
I ignored my father, and walked down to my bedroom, to be alone with my thoughts, and do my homework. Not that I did much homework...
