My eyes cracked open, and I took a quick look about the room taking in my surroundings. There were flowers over at the window sill, and on the nightstand next to my bed.

"Beep."

"Beep."

"Beep."

The heart monitor continued to beep at me, telling me that my heart was still going strong. There was an IV needle stuck to my skin, dripping whatever fluid was in the bag into my body. A nurse walked into the room to check on my IV and other things that I knew nothing about.

"Oh you're awake. Let me go get Dr.Graham..." The nurse left, leaving me in the hospital room alone.

"You don't look good mister." A little girl peered over the bed railing, as the nurse returned into the room with a older looking room.

"Oh you're awake. We didn't think you'd be awake until a couple more days."

"Umm.. Excuse me?" I asked the woman, confused why she was here.

"Oh. My apologies. I'm your new guardian."

"Guardian?"

"Yes. The doctors had found about your father, and they called the authorities. You were put into foster care, and we took you."

"Oh." I looked down at the little girl peering at me from where she stood by the bed.

I stepped into the bedroom that had all of my things from my biological parents house. Everything was placed so neatly that it didn't even look like bedroom that belonged to me. My bed was shoved up against the wall below the window, which normally isn't what I would've done.

"I hope you don't mind. It was the only other place to put it."

I turned towards Jillian, my adoptive mother, her daughter standing next to her. "Yeah, it's fine." I set my bag down, and walked over to my computer chair.

"Well, we will leave you alone for a bit."

I watched Jillian, and Amanda leave the room. I looked down at my closed laptop. "So... New life."

I opened my laptop, and hit the power button. The computer whirred, and then screen flared to life. After a few brief loading screens, the login screen popped up. I inputted my password, and then waited for a moment for the computer to load up before opening the web browser. Upon finding that I had no connection I opened my wifi connection tab, and then stared at it. There were several different Wi-fi choices, so I figured I should probably talk to Jillian. I picked up my laptop, and walked out into the living room where Jillian was sitting on the floor with Amanda playing with barbies.

"Um.. Hey, Jillian?"

Jillian looked up at me, and smiled. "Something I can help you with Aadin?"

"Yeah, I was hoping you could hook me up to the internet."

"Oh, yes. I was hoping that I could've done that ahead of time, but you had a lock on your computer."

"Yeah, sorry about that, I just like my privacy."
"That's understandable. Bring it over."

I walked over to Jillian, and handed her my computer. I watched as she logged onto the apartment wi-fi, and then handed the laptop back to me. I smiled at her, and took my laptop back.

"Thanks."

"No problem. Hey, listen. Don't spend all night in that room of yours we would like to actually get to know you eventually."

"Don't worry, I'll come visit."

I walked off back to my room, and set my laptop back down on my desk.

"DINNER!" Jillian yelled down the hall.

I stood up from my desk, stretched, and exited the room. As I reached the kitchen entrance I could smell cooked beef covered with taco seasoning. I walked over to the stove, and looked down into the pot of cooked beef.

"Hope you're ok with tacos."

"Yeah, tacos is fine."

I pulled a tortilla from the bag, and started filling it with my favourite toppings. After getting my stuff, I turned to the table and sat down. Amanda sat next to me trying desperately to fold up her taco without it falling apart. I chuckled and leaned over, wrapping her taco up for her. Amanda smiled at me, and then picked up her taco and took a large bite out of it. I then looked back at my own taco that was piled with cheese, tomatoes, black olives, ground beef, avocado, sour cream, and salsa. I wrapped my taco up, and then took a huge bite out of it.

"Jillian! Honey, can you pull out a beer for me please."

I looked up to see a man dressed in a suit set a briefcase down.

"And this must be Aadin." The guy smiled, "I'm sure we will get along."

I nodded, mouth full of taco. The man sat down and then picked up the beer that Jillian had set down on the table. Jillian smiled at him as she set down a plate for him, already having a folded taco on it. The man looked at me, and raised an eyebrow.

"Don't you talk much?" He asked.

I swallowed my mouthful of taco, and then answered the man's question. "Only when I have a mouthful of food."

The man chuckled, and picked up his own taco. "Good to know that you have a sense of humor."

I smiled at him, and then took a second bite of my taco, making it another huge one. Even though I was going to end up having two tacos, it wouldn't take me long to finish them up. Immediately after diner, I helped Jillian clean up the kitchen, washing the dishes right away. After everything was finished, I headed back to my room, sitting down in front of my laptop. I wiggled the mouse around, the screen coming back to life from being in sleep mode. My blog was alive with notifications from comment on my newest post.

"Congrats on getting out of the house!"

"So happy for you, Praying that you enjoy your new life."

"Hope you find happiness in the new place."

The comments went on and on and on, about how I was out of my parents place, about how I was finally no longer having to go through what I had to.

Tormented Kid: "Thanks guys for the support! I hope to spend quite a few happy years here!"

I entered my comment, and then stared at the screen while I grabbed my Ipod. I pushed on my headphones, and found one of my favorite playlists. I hit play, leaned back in my chair and fell asleep rather quickly. Throughout the night I ended up with nightmares, some of my father, some of my guardian using me even though I knew that there was no way that, that was going to happen.

When I woke in the morning I was covered in sweat. I had at some point during the night moved from my chair to my bed, but still remained in my clothes. I turned and looked at the time on my alarm clock. Shit! I'm going to be late! I jumped up out of bed, ripped off my clothing to switch into something a little more fresh, and then grabbed my school bag running out of the room.

"Aadin! You're going to be late for school."

I bolted past Jillian who was standing in the kitchen, and exited the apartment. "Yeah I know I am!"
