Dead Inside

Chapter 3

            The sleepover was fun. We stayed for 2 days doing activities and having fun. Now It's Sunday and the rest of the squad left but me and Nia are going shopping. It's almost our tradition, every sunday we meet up to go to the mall and shop or just walk around. Today we just walked around though we did stop at the food court to get some orange chicken and ramen. We both sat down talking about what had happened during 7 minutes in heaven with our crushes.

"Maya I was genuinely scared, I told him about the time I was locked in the school overnight. It wasn't embarrassing but it wasn't funny, but he told me about the time he had gone skydiving, and his parachute broke. He had said he started screaming and I pictured that and started laughing. Then when he saw me laughing he looked at me weird and so then we sat there in awkward silence. Now that was embarrassing."

"Omg, No way." I said while popping a piece of orange chicken in my mouth

"Yea, how was it for you?"

I held up my pointer finger signaling her to wait until I was done chewing.

"... It was cool I guess but I told him about the stained pants in kindergarten."

"NO!! NOT THAT ONE!" She shouted

"I know, I thought he would react badly but he didn't, he actually laughed. Then he told me about a time where he had lost his belt and we all knew how that ended up."

Nia bursted into laughter

"Now we have an inside joke kind of."

"Definitely better than my time in the closet. We should go to the arcade here in the mall, it's supposedly big." Nia said wiping off her hands and throwing away her plate

"Ok, I'm down!" I said also throwing out my plate.

We both left for the arcade, and she was right, It's Huge. It even has a laser tag event so me and Nia played a few games before heading to laser tag. There was a huge line for the laser tag and my feet were killing me. It took about 15 minutes before we got in and we got paired with 5 other people. I am particularly good at laser tag so I was in the lead and I hadn't got tagged until someone got me from behind. I turned around and saw a guy who was laughing but I had seen him before. Oh my gosh, that was my middle school crush. He remembered me too because he looked at me and said:

"Remember me Bush?"

Bush was his name for me, it was because in middle school I was rather short. "Zane?"I asked

"Who else?" He asked sarcastically. I rolled my eyes and laughed, then I went over to hug him.

"I see you've gotten older, you just haven't changed Zane." I said while looking him up and down

"Neither have you, still short as always." He laughed

"Whatever, but we are still in the middle of a game so.. We can talk later" I said pointing my laser at him and shooting.

"Oh ok, game on." He said trying to catch me while I was running away laughing

Zane wasn't just my crush he was my best friend, I never told him I liked him because I felt if he didn't like me it would ruin the relationship we had. He had black Curly hair, Brown eyes, but his smile. His smile always made me smile, even when I wasn't in the mood. He's been like that since the day we met. We finished up the game and I won. Individual points I had 600 points but our team had 12 points. Nia and her team had 8 points but she had gotten 400 individual points. After the game we had to return our items to the people and we met outside.

"Zane?" asked Nia as he walked out the door

"Yep, the one and only." he said doing a 360 spin

"When did you move back here?"Nia asked
