Dead Inside

Chapter 5

       "Girl, Wake up Now!" yelled Nia, I woke up to her pulling the covers off me and shaking me to her heart's content.

"I was sleeping good, what is it?" I said yawning

"We don't have school, look outside!" She yelled. I didn't know why she was screaming. It was like 8:00 in the morning, I looked outside to see a ground full of crystal white snow. That only meant one thing, Snow Out! A snow out is when all the kids from the neighborhood meet in the field near the Club house.

"Omg let's GO!" I shouted rushing into my room grabbing a thick coat and gloves, I handed Nia some and we rushed outside running to the field but she threw a snowball at me. I tried running backwards so I could get her back but that didn't work out, I tripped and almost fell until I got caught from behind. I looked at Nia and she started smirking.

"You should watch where you're going, bush, I'm not always gonna be here to save you."

"Zane!?" I asked turning around to face him. "When and how did you get here? How'd you know about the event?"

"Slow your role questionnaire." He said laughing "Any questions should go to that nugget." he pointed to Nia who started running away because she knew what was getting into.

"Right, give me one second!" I said chasing her.

"Don't kill her!" He yelled after me laughing

"Oh I will!" I said as I picked up a snowball and threw it at her back.

"Ok, enough." Zane said Picking me up and carrying me on his head. '' He Turned me around so I could face Nia and I mouthed "I'm gonna kill you." then I pointed forward saying "Onward."

"Yea, ok." Said Zane smiling.

We got to the field and started playing dodge snow with the others. Basically dodge ball but with snow. Zane kept throwing snowballs at me and Nia before we decided to team on him. We both started throwing multiple snowballs at him until he started walking over to us. He picked both of us up over his shoulder and threw us into a pile of snow nearby.

"Ok I give up!" Nia said

"Lol, so do I after this.." I threw a snowball right at his face.

"Oh ok, I've got something for you." he said. "Hey kids! Let's play dodge snow again except she said she wants to try to dodge all of it." He pointed at me.

"Oh no, no you didn't." I said starting to run away

"Yes, I did." He sat there laughing, while kids were chasing me around throwing snow in my face and at my back.

After we finished playing in the snow we went back to the house and I got us some hot chocolate.

"My family is having this thing at the movie theater in like an hour. They want us to dress nicely because we are going to an after party too. You should come." Zane said to me "So should you Nia, I know someone in my family that you would get along with." he added

"Omg I was waiting for you to invite me too. It sounds cool, we're going." Nia said smiling

"We are? I've got some things to do." I said sitting down at the coffee table with my hot chocolate.

"Like what?" Nia asked

"Like this Project due in two weeks." I said

"TWO WEEKS!! You'll have plenty of time" Nia shouted

"Nia, don't kill her for it, she doesn't have to come." Zane looked over at me and winked "But it would be better if she could."

I died inside when he winked at me but I decided to play It cool.
