"How? Where?" Jordan said, leaning in closer to me.
I made a face, "Well, I don't EXACTLY know where it is, but I've been in the room. I think."
"What do you mean?" Cecily asked looking at me confused.
"Were you guys not listening to me during break today?" I asked bewildered and they looked at me with a blank stare, "Clearly not," I huffed, "Ok, I missed all of second period because I got lost."
"Oh yeah, the principal thing!" Cecily said slapping her thigh.
"Yes, the principal thing. Well, I ended up in a long hallway-like room that had six windows and no sign of a light switch or any other type of electrical fixtures. Which would mean that whoever used the hallway at night would need either a flashlight or a candle."
"Oooohh." They both said in unison.
I nodded, "Yeah."
"So where did you find it though?" Jordan asked.
"I have no idea."
"How do you not know?" They said, seemingly frustrated.
"Well, it was a split-second situation thing when I found the room. And I was panicking. And the room gave me the creeps. So as soon as the coast was clear I ran for my life, and I didn't look back," I sucked in a breath, "So I have no idea where it actually is because I didn't even know where I was in the first place."
"Well, I guess we'll have to go looking for it then," Jordan said with a huff.
"That should be a fun adventure," I said with a tentative smile.
"Yes, but we have to go through the whole school to find it and we sure as hell can't do that during class or extracurriculars."
"We could do it as an extracurricular though," Cecily said. "I remember someone mentioning that there used to be some sort of mystery club back when the school was still a school for girls. We could start it up again."
"That's not a half-bad idea. I can approve it as president of SG, and we can use it as an excuse to be roaming around the school unattended during weird hours of the day." Jay said nodding, their aura becoming increasingly creatively orange and interested purple.
"Exactly!" Cecily said with an excited bounce and her aura bursting with excited energy.
Jordan nodded their head, "If I remember correctly, it was called The History and Mystery Club."
"That sounds somewhat entertaining. Why did they stop the club?" I asked.
"I think it was because one of the last all-girl graduating classes just stopped accepting members and then graduated out. Not sure what the reasoning was though. Some said it's because the president went a bit crazy after their last excursion, some say it was just out of spite to the rest of the school." Jordan said, "We just need to find the old paperwork. They did a lot of exploring in the school. I wouldn't be surprised if they found the key."
"So where would we find their meeting minutes?" Cecily wondered sipping her drink.
"Probably in the archives. I can look next time I have to be there for student government." Jay said mulling it over.
"Sounds good." I said, "Do we have to do anything to get the ball rolling?"
"Yeah, it would help if you filled out the form online."
"We should ask Ophelia if she wants to join us," Cecily said.
"Yes, and Tyler maybe?"
"I mean, I guess," Cecily replied with a mumble. Her aura lighting up like a Christmas tree in pinks and greens.
We then spent the rest of the time at Cecily's filling out the form and doing research on the club. The school had been standing for a little over 100 years so there were a lot of areas that had already been explored because of the many years of renovation necessary to make it appropriate and up to code with the education board. But there were legends about the building that hadn't been proven or discovered yet that we looked forward to finding. Namely the hallway I had found and the treasure room that was said to be under the building. The possibility of crypts and secret tunnels was exciting to me and gave me a new desire, a new joy of being at Silver Valley Academy.
Hello hello, reader! Glad you got to this point! It's a slow burner but we're building up to where we need to be. I'm excited to hear what you think so far!
