There was a bunch of flailing and plenty of screaming, but just as they were about to hit the rocky waters below, Sophie pushed the building energy out of her mind and plunged them into the void.

They floated there for a few seconds before Sophie got a warm fuzzy feeling as she pictured Keefe in her mind, sitting at the park when they were suddenly thrown out of the void and were free falling through the air.

They all managed to get to their senses and use levitation to slow themselves down before they hit the ground. Keefe was sitting on a picnic table a few feet away, fingering at a plucked piece of grass. Biana looked around, making sure no other human was there, before letting everyone be seen.

As they appeared in front of him he jumped, clearly not expecting them. His face seemed to be saying, How on Earth did you find me?? And I told you not to come looking for me! And why did you come after me?

Sophie answered, her heart racing with seeing him in front of her again, just a few feet away, "We came because we care about you Keefe."

"Yeah, why would you leave and not expect us to come after you?"

His face seemed to say, True enough.

"I know that you just wanted to protect everyone, but running away isn't going to solve our problems." Sophie walked over to where he was sitting and waited for his eyes to meet hers. When they did she stopped for a moment, lost in them. He looked scared, hopeful, and grateful all at the same time.

"Running away won't do anything. The only way we can really solve all these problems is if we continue to fight them."

The rest of the group had already walked over to him and sat down. Biana then spoke, "And we all know how draining that can be. It's like all we do is fight and lose. Yet we do have small victories every now and then, and that is what we need to focus on."

"We can't do everything at once, and we definitely can't do it without you Keefe," Fitz was the one to say something this time.

Tam spoke next, "Even I have to admit that. You don't give yourself enough credit dude. Seriously, you've been able to handle the tourcher of your parents your whole life. You can't quit right when things get interesting!"

"He's right," She stared into his eyes and used that as permission to enter his mind as she transmitted, I can't do this without you Keefe. "I know constantly fighting can be difficult. But right now, we can't afford to lose you in the midst of all this. You're too important to us Keefe. You've been through a lot and you of all people deserve a break. But we can't finish this fight without you."

Then she transmitted, And more importantly, you're important to me. I can't do this without you. And I'm realizing now how much you really mean to me. You've always been there. Right from the start. I can't thank you enough for all that you've done for me. And I just wanted to say...She bit her lip to stop herself from picking at an eyelash and finally admitted to him, and quite frankly herself, I love you keefe.

His face was filled with surprise as his heart started beating rapidly. He'd been waiting for this forever. His face formed a smile as he looked into her gold flecked brown eyes and said, I love you too sophie... You seriously don't know how long I've wanted to tell you that.

Her stomach was filled with fluttering things by this point and all she wanted to do was kiss him. Yet all her friends were here and that would be a little embarrassing. I have finally realized how much you mean to me, Keefe. And I don't want to lose you. Please come back with us. Her mental voice had become that of a beg. But she spoke these next words aloud, "Please come back home Keefe."

He looked down at his now wrung hands, still deciding whether this was a good idea. But he looked up and whispered, "As long as I don't have to go back to daddy dearest."

They hadn't expected him to talk, so when he did their faces filled with surprised joy as they all pulled him in for a much needed hug. She squeezed him tight, not wanting to ever let go. She relished the feeling of him in her arms and their friends all around them. For a long time they sat there. Knowing that they had him back.

Eventually they untangled themselves from the mass of bodies and Biana announced, "Let's go home guys," as she offered her hand.

They all grabbed onto each other. Once they'd all had someone's hand, Biana looked around to make sure they were alone, turned them all invisible, and they all lifted themselves into the air. Some of which were better at this than others. But with everyone gripping onto each other they managed to get high enough so they could free fall. And because they all expected it this time, there wasn't as much flailing.

A few moments later they were plunged into the void. As Sophie navigated through, she squeezed Keefe's hand, feeling a sense of peace and love. They still had a lot to do but with them all united again, with Keefe right next to her, his hand in hers, she knew they could do it.

She smiled when he squeezed back, picturing Havenfeld in her mind, when suddenly after they were plunged into its warm grassy fields.

They all grunted with the impact, and stumbled up. Tam helped Linh as Fitz had fallen on top of her. Biana grabbed Edaline's hand and said her thanks. Sophie was surprised that they'd managed to come out that quickly. Perhaps they'd seen the dark cloud of the void first and ran outside. She was also surprised no humans had seen it either and ran to tell people about it when they entered the lost cities in the first place. But that was the perk of Keefe being alone at that park with no one else in sight. She felt for him, she knew he of all people had been through a lot. But she also knew that no matter what, he could do it.

Keefe helped Sophie up. Somehow she'd managed to get grass all over her face. She quickly whipped it off and Keefe laughed and squeezed her hand. Letting her know she didn't have to be embarrassed, even though her cheeks were already turning a shade of red. But she ended up laughing with him.

Once they were all settled inside they hailed Dex to tell him it had been a success, and to ask him how hacking the pendant feeds had gone. He told them it had gone well, thankfully, and then laughed and said, "This is the first time not a single part of our plan failed!"

Biana laughed with him, and replied, "I know right! And that's saying something because we've had a lot of them!"

They all agreed as Dex lept over and gave Keefe a hug. Since he hadn't been there for their group one. They ended up talking for hours after that. Just wanting to be in the company of friends. Biana and Dex ended up helping Edaline make some Mallowmelt while the rest of them played silly games and talked with each other before letting everyone else who knew of Keefe's sudden disappearance know what happened.

Elwin and Ro leaped over later that night. Elwin wouldn't let Keefe do anything before giving him the all clear that he was okay. Ro ruffled Keefe's hair and told him that the dare he owed her was going to be a real tough one for trying to run away. Keefe merely nodded in acknowledgement, not really wanting to have to deal with it at the moment.

He and Sophie sat on the couch and fell asleep in each other's arms, exhausted. It was already night time and they all had had a super long day. Thankfully no one disturbed them. Taking in his sweet sent and the feel of his body against hers she smiled. It had been a long time since she was this relaxed. But with Keefe curled up against her she was convinced that even if there would be turbulent times ahead, together they could get through it.

They slept like that for the whole night, curled up in the comforting embrace of each other's arms.
