The only other sound than the noise of traffic was the soft crunch of gravel beneath the two brother's feet. Hiro had just been accepted into SFIT college. Tadashi had kept his younger brother behind for a little chat, but they were heading home now. Both were tuckered out from the days' events.

It was only a little further until they reached the Lucky Cat Cafe, also known as home to the Hamada brothers. Tadashi pressed the crosswalk button even though there weren't any cars around this late. When he was satisfied that it was safe to cross, the sound of crunching gravel was audible again. However, a short distance away, a car swerved onto the street. It roared towards the brothers at a speed Gogo would be proud of. Panic filled the older brother's eyes as he tumbled to the ground. His younger brother had tripped over his own feet and pushed him out of harm's way. Aside from a few scrapes and bruises, Tadashi was fine. But his scrapes were the least of his worries. It was Hiro, who had absorbed the shock of the car's impact. The sound of sirens soon filled the air as Hiro was whisked away to the hospital. Hiro's condition was stabilized. The worst his body had sustained were some broken bones, including a leg, two ribs, and his wrist. Even though Hiro's condition was stable, he wasn't waking up. He was stuck in a different world, somewhere they couldn't reach him. The sound of a heart monitor greeted Tadashi's ears as he stepped into the room. His eyes became glassy and he tried to keep from crying aloud.

"Hiro." Tadashi's voice cracked. The beeping of the heart monitor quickened in response.

"Hiro, wake up please. We're all so worried about you." Tadashi pleaded with his unconscious little brother, knowing full well he may never see his brother's dark brown eyes ever again.

.

A month had passed since the accident. Hiro showed responses when his friends and family spoke to him. Tadashi stepped into the hospital room. The familiar sound of the heart monitor met his ears. What he hadn't expected was Hiro's eyes fluttering open at the sound of his voice.

"Tadashi?" Hiro's eyes widened, tears filling his eyes as a choked sob escaped his lips.

"Hiro!" Tadashi hugged his little brother, unsure of why he was so upset at the sight of him.

"How can this be a dream if you feel so real?" Hiro whispered, tears beginning to drip down his face.

"What do you mean Hiro?" Tadashi asked.

"You... You were dead. You died. There was a fire... And you ran in to save Callaghan." Hiro was confusing his long dream within his coma with reality.

"What?! No! Don't you remember? There was an accident... A car. A drunk driver hit you. You were in a coma Hiro. It's been a month." Tadashi explained. Hiro recognized the faded memory and he wiped the tears from his face.

"I'm right here buddy." Tadashi smiled warmly at Hiro.
