"Are we so ignorant that we can't see right from wrong?"||| - trip

Silence never felt so comforting.
It was always a bliss, to just sit near the sea, watching it's wonderful curves of water mightily rise and fall back into the depths, while the blinding force pushed the cold drops to the brown sand, trying to tingle people's toes. For me, it was always better as I had someone by my side. All those days sitting under the lovely moonlight with my dad, his hand in my smaller one, I had never felt so relaxed. No words were spoken; instead the silent exchange of smiles and heads together was enough. It was comforting.
Until that day. The day that I wish I would forget, but I can never do because I'm weak enough not to accept reality.
From that day, silence never felt so horrific.
"Ara, wake up!" I groaned irritably at Joohyun's voice screaming into my ear like horns blaring in endless traffic. Burying my head deeper into the soft pillow, I felt myself slip deeper into fantasy world.
That is, until I felt a slap on my butt.
Cursing her lightly, I turned and squinted my eyes, rubbing them slowly with my hands as my distorted vision turned into a more clear one and Joohyun's face came into view. Her pale skin gleamed as she sat on my bed, the sunlight streaming from the window on the side illuminating her body, her red lips twinkling, and her crystal green eyes were narrowed, probably angry at me for sleeping even after the rooster had woken up from it's dream world. Sitting up, clutching the comforter close to my body as I shivered from the cold, i leaned against the headboard as Joohyun spoke, her voice tinted with anger.
"Didn't you even keep an alarm?" She yelled at me, standing up and placing her hands on her hips, her fingers digging into her red shorts, and I wondered why she wore a crop top and shorts in the morning; she only wore them when she was going out.
"Please don't yell, it hurts my ear as well as my butt, as my beautiful butt feels the vibrations as well. If you are rich enough, then you can break my eardrums and not let me dump my trash, but we are broke, so keep your fucking voice down, idiot." I unamusedly replied back as I crossed my arms behind my head, feeling myself go back to sleep.
This time, I felt the pillow on my head.
This fucker-"YOU ARE THE IDIOT! DON'T YOU HAVE A FLIGHT TODAY! AREN'T WE GOING TO SEOUL!? DIDN'T YOU GET A FRICKING REPORT!?"
Well fuck.
After a chaotic shower that didn't even wipe my dirt off and a whole lot of other things like sitting on an orange that made me change my favourite jeans to a pair of black ones, and tripping down the stairs just to fall on my black fat cat's poop which resulted in me changing into a pair of Joohyun's shorts which was more than uncomfortable, I somehow managed to get my ass out of the house with my suitcases, as a fuming Joohyun followed. Hurling everything into the poor cab, I felt relieved as I checked my watch; we still had almost half an hour till the flight took off. Ignoring an angry Joohyun, I scrolled my window down and let my eyes wander the streets in Gwangju, it's sun-kissed pavements and happy people strolled here and there, doing their daily activities or just having fun.
I reminisced the first time I came to this city from the crowded streets of Busan, where I was born. A rookie with castle-high dreams who had the biggest hopes of becoming a writer, a repoter, who wrote one of the toughest exams in Korea and got excellent marks, only to land in a position as an intern in one of the biggest news agencies. Yet, I did hope, as I always had, to get a promotion or something which would land me in the position of my fantasies, but it just remained a fantasy. My long-lost dream, floated away in the wind, while the rest of it's siblings came flying to it's owners.
But now, my dream has a chance to come fluttering back, from the caves.
My mind flooded with thoughts, I didn't realise that we had reached the airport until Joohyun unlocked the car door. After paying the driver, who was eyeing Joohyun, we made our way into the airport. Looking at the flight-information board, it's yellow words displayed that the Seoul flight still had fifteen minutes for takeoff.
"Hey, I'm gonna go to the restroom. Why don't you buy something from the mall to eat, I already had breakfast." Joohyun said to me and who was I to not heed to her good advice?
After all, food is god. (Okay, not entirely, but still.)
Making my way through the bustling crowd towards the McDonalds court, I was a bit surprised to see a lot of people standing here and there. What surprised me was that they all had cameras and such, as if they were expecting some celebrity to walk through. Was there someone here, I wondered. But the only celebrity that was in my eyes for now was the giant burger, which I did buy after a few minutes. After frowning because Joohyun took a bite out of it, I bought one for her and we sat on the long, steel seats, munching on the heavenly taste.
It was when I frantically wiped away the gooey cheese that had dribbled down my chin, did I see the photographers huddle around and rush towards someone who was definitely, positively, desperately trying to get away. The person was quickly surrounded by guards clad in black, trying to hold the surrounding people who were trying to approach the celebrity. I couldn't see if it was a girl or a boy; the person disappeared soon, still surrounded by his army. After giving our tickets for checking to the woman with the bold red lipstick and almost a robotic smile, we went through the way that would lead us to our flight. Once we were in the cosy airway, I slid into my seat, giving my bags to a handsome air hostess who, I noticed, had perfectly white teeth when he shooted me a smile. Joohyun and I were in different seats, so I didn't have to endure her stupid advices during this time. Ah, this is magnificent.
Passengers were still boarding in, and it was when I was looking out of the window did I feel the seat beside me sink. I turned to look at my co-passenger; but I couldn't see his face. That was because he had a black mask, and his eyes were covered big black sunglasses, and a beanie covered his hair, except for a few stray bangs to come in the front and dangle in front of the glasses. It was a 'he', from what I had seen, as he was wearing a sweatshirt and jeans and did look a bit muscly. As he took out a laptop and whispered something by pressing his ear, I had the strangest idea to what he was.
God, am I sitting next a fricking detective?
