I sighed a relief when my social worker told me I had at least someone to stay with. Even though I had never met my auntie Clarke, my mum always talked about her saying she was so nice an everything... I was worried... nervous... but more sad.
Did I mention that my parents had died in a car crush a couple of weeks ago? I guess not. They were on the way back from their anniversary meal when some drunk sick man crushed them over. It was their twentieth anniversary and they were both so excited about this meal. I was in my bedroom waiting for them to come home, realizing they were a bit late, 'oh they must be having fun, that's why they're late' I thought to myself... Suddenly, the bell rang. I thought it was my parents Amber and Ian Swan. But it wasn't... It was the police.. I guess you can already guess what happened next.
Anyways, back to reality, my Auntie Clarke lives in London. So that means I have to move there and leave California... My tickets are due tonight. So I better get packing up. I went in my parents' room to get one of the suitcases, then I heard a loud growl. Then I realized it was coming from my tummy. I quickly rushed out of the room and went in the kitchen.
I heard the song Kiss You come on... I was confused because I didn't know where the sound was coming from, then I realized it was my phone. I picked my phone up from the kitchen table and looked at the ID thingy to see who it was from then I froze. It was my auntie Clarke and I was going to talk to her for the first time. My heart started beating twice as much if that's even possible. Calm down Kinsley, it'll be okay I thought to myself as I picked up my phone and touched the answer button.
'Hello Kinsley' a jolly happy voice said. 'H-hii' I stuttered, before I knew it I was biting my nails.'I am your Auntie Clarke sweetheart. I am so sorry about what happened to your parents, they're in a better place now' I felt a tear crawling down my cheeks. 'don't cry honey, it's okay. I'll always be here from now on if you need to talk. You're now my daughter, understand?' she asked, I could feel her smile as she was talking. That kind of made me feel warm.'Okay, understood auntie Clarke' I said smiling too even though my eyes were still watery and I guess red. 'C'mon Clarke... we gotta get ready.' said a smiller voice in the background. 'Well, I gotta go now sweetie, I'll pick you up tonight from the airport. See you tonight' she said. 'Bye auntie Clarke' I said as I pressed the end button. I sighed a relief. Maybe she was nice like my mum had always told me.
I quickly got up and went to the fridge. I picked up a fruit yogurt, strawberry flavoured -my favourite. I quickly ate it and went in my room. Trying to pick out an outfit. I ended up picking a pair of ripped jeans, a purple vest top to go under my cream cropped-jumper and a pair of high top-wedges which was grey. For accessories I picked up my superman snapback and earrings with a couple of friendship bracelets and a necklace saying 'SWAG'. I quickly wore them and brushed my hair. After a while of just sitting in my bed thinking what it would be like to live in London, meeting new people and missing my parents. I realized I had tears in my eyes and quickly went back to packing up.
