Airport - Sydney, Australia
(10:00 AM)
"Oh, my Gawd!!!", I screamed as I land my foot in Sydney. Seeing the welcome banners made me realize that finally, we're here, we arrived, for real.
Lance is as excited as I am. Or maybe a little bit more excited.
"So what do we do? Where to go now?", she asked. Suddenly, we forgot about our itinerary. Lol.
After an 8-hour flight, my stomach is growling on our way out of the airport. "We need to contact Sally, check-in our stuff in the house, rest a little bit, have lunch, and...", I paused and we both look at each other, thinking the same thing.
"Go to the beach!", we shriek at the same time and laugh.
-----
After dropping in our stuff in the house, we went out. We had our quick lunch at McDonald's.
2 PM, and we're heading to Bondi beach.
"Do you think we'll see them today?" Lance ask.
"I don't know," I said, "but I hope so."
We were so quiet walking on the street of Campbell Parade, just across Bondi beach. But our minds are going crazy with thoughts of meeting the Lifeguards.
Here we go!
The sun welcoming us, the sound of the waves, the smell of the sea, the warm wind. It was so overwhelming. The sand caresses our feet when we took off our slippers.
Yay! I can't believe we're here.
"Look around, check if the four-wheel is somewhere near," I told Lance. Referring to the buggy that Lifeguards use to patrol the beach.
Bondi beach is not that busy today, it's a beautiful day. Some people swimming and surfing in the water, some just chilling and sunbathing, and we.. haha! Lifeguard hunting.
Walking around took us hours from the north to the south part of Bondi, baby walks. We were so amazed by the beauty of nature. The ocean and the sky are just perfect. It's way much perfect than we ever imagine.
No lifeguards down the shore. Maybe not today.
"Let's go," I told Lance, "we need to go to the supermarket."
"Too bad, we didn't see any of them today."
"It's okay, it's not that we're leaving tomorrow. We'll see them soon."
We were walking out of the beach when I saw someone familiar. I tapped Lance's shoulder without saying anything and point my finger at someone.
I shrug my shoulder and smiled, "one down!."
In not so far away from us, there's the goddess Glick holding a camera, taking photos.
"It's not bad after all." Lance said as we head to Wellworth's to buy our groceries for the week.
So we didn't imagine that we bought more than we can carry, lol. The good thing is that our house was just around the corner. I carried the heavy bag and a gallon of water and Lance took the light ones. We were a few steps in front of the house entrance when we heard someone behind us.
"Hey mate, do you need help?" the guy said.
Whoa!
"I'm Ryan, we live next door." In a second he already took the water gallon out of my hands.
"Whippet." I was thinking out loud.
"Oh, you know me", he was not expecting that, "you guys here for vacation?"
Lance was in shock. We were just thinking about this before, having a Lifeguard neighbor. And it's happening.
"Yes, for a month." She managed to answer Whippet in a calm way, impressive.
"What can I call you mate?"
"My name is Catherine, Cat is fine. And this is my friend Lance."
"Nice to meet you both."
We get in the house and put the stuff on the table.
"Thanks, Whippet."
"No worries. If you have time tomorrow, I'd like to invite you guys over to our house to meet my wife and kids. It's my eldest son's birthday. Friends are also coming in, it'll be great if you'll be there too."
"Oh, we'd love to," Lance said looking at me, "right Cat?"
"Well.. yeah. Thanks for inviting us." I said.
"Cool. I'll get going now, see you guys tomorrow."
Waves goodbye and we're left in silence. What just happen??
"OMG! Cat!"
"Can you believe it? Lance, there's a chance that other Lifeguards will be there tomorrow. Oh my Gawd!" I'm so thrilled.
"Yay! we need to have a beauty rest." She said and then we burst out laughing with the idea.
-----
Never had we imagine that we will get invited by Whippet.
It's 9 PM, Lance was tired so she fell asleep as soon as her back touched the bed. I can't sleep. My mind is busy thinking of what's going to happen tomorrow.
This is going to be interesting. Never thought it's gonna be this easy to meet the Lifeguards.
Finally, I dozed off.
