As promised! I have come to finish my 60-page story – Bestfriends’ Rules. Obviously, based on the title alone, this is a story inspired by two best friends. They have been friends since college and come to realize that they have deeply fallen for each other. However, their LOVE was tested when they had to face some difficulties – familial responsibility, poles apart social status, intermediary past relationships, starting off a family of their own. Others might say “cliche”, yet I assure you that this one is quite different from the typical best friend stories that we encounter or have encountered.
By the way, I would admit that, in a way, I patterned the character of the boy to my college best friend (and according to him, my BFF) -- PJA. (Well I hope he won’t mind). This is mainly because he’s one of the striking people that have made significant impression and changes in my college life, so I am somewhat dedicating this to him.
But of course, it was my Dad’s passing away that truly urged me to write this story – my first-ever novel (?). I remember how my Dad used to support me and encourage me to do better and excel in every capability he sees in me; therefore, his undying faith in me – something that will reside in my heart forever – assisted me to finish this short story. And wherever he is now (I believe he’s finally peaceful in God’s gentle and loving arms), at this point in time, I want him to be elated as I read this story out loud for him to hear me and my heart’s content.
Dad, I love you beyond these 23, 529 words convey. <3
