You couldn't believe it when your father had suggested an arranged marriage. At first you thought he was just angry that you've been skipping out on helping with paper work and avoiding him, but he was dead serious. You weren't keen on joining the family business of working in the trade industry and you've made it known several times over, but neither of your parents listened. Your mother was a lot more lenient on your absences but she still expected you to make up for lost time. Your father on the other hand was strict but always rewarded you for a job well done, which is if you actually got a job done.

He had been pestering you more and more lately to get your head into the business, even going so far as to bribing you. But his latest attempt is by far the worse! He even came with a file of potential candidates! You were more than just furious, you felt betrayed and ashamed. You ran to your room and locked the door behind you after making a scene. You didn't know what to do or who to turn to, you just wanted to cry.

Flinging yourself on the bed you start to curl up until you hear a thump at your window. Startled you shoot up and tiptoe over to look out. You breathe a sigh of relief when you see that it's just Cavan. You unlatch the window and carefully open it up. There's a web set up just below for you to jump onto and Cavan was right under it, ready to catch you when you'll roll off. Holding your fingers to your lips while look down to him, you hoist yourself up to the windowsill and slip down into the web and toss yourself off and into his arms.

"You've gotten too used to this," he chuckles. You twist your face and place your finger back over your lips. 'Alright alright', he mouths while setting you down.

As you straighten yourself up you feel a knot in your throat. His timing is both good and bad, you think. You want so desperately to cry right now and to tell him the horrible things your father has planned for you. But he has his own problems, you've recently learned.

"Is everything alright?" he catches your cheek in his hand and turns you to look up at him. You really wish he hadn't because the second you see his bright beautiful eyes you come undone. He gathers you back up in his arms and quickly whisks you away into the gardens. You hang onto him until he sets you down on a bench and you do your best to hold yourself up.

"What happened to you sunshine?" he thumbs away your tears as your still being held up by his arms.

It didn't feel right keeping this to yourself but you really didn't want to trouble him. "It's nothing." you croak. Cavan grabs your face and forces you to look at him.

"It's not nothing if you're crying your eyes out like this!" he hisses. His bright yellow eyes seem to burn holes in you causing you to crumble under their stare.

"Please just tell me so I can help you fix it." his voice softens and he lets you go.

Taking a few deep breaths and inching a little ways away from him you start to calm yourself enough to talk.

"It's my father." you begin.

Cavan already looks disgusted from you just mentioning him. He knows that you and your father are not on the best of terms and you've pretty much told him everything he's ever said or done to upset you, so this really shouldn't be any different... and yet...

"He started talking about how I needed to get my head into the family business and how I need to get serious about it since he's not getting any younger..." you pause as the memory of the conversation plays out in your head.

It was the same old argument he always presented you and one you've always complained to Cavan about, except this time the ending was much more drastic.
