Over the next few days you and Cavan rest and try to come up with a plan. You think about surprising both families by saying that both of you have decided to move up north and try to start a life of your own. However, Cavan reminds you that Driders are not particularly fond of the cold.

The next idea was almost solid, Cavan traveling for work before settling down that way he could afford a little time with his 'wife' after the wedding and not have to worry about money for a little bit. Unfortunately that meant you'd be working as well and have little to no chance of escape.

On the last day of your retreat from the real world Elli and Luctux decide to pay a visit. Your wonderful little sister, ever the planner came in with a plan that would benefit the both of you a your fake fiancé.

"I can't believe it took me this long to realize it! I feel so stupid!," she groans, plopping into one of the little chairs.

"What? Realize what Elli?" you ask your sister as Cavan and Luctux go over their plans.

"Father loves tradition right? And as the eldest daughter marrying the only son of another family means?" she holds her breath, grin plastered to her face.

It's so obvious even you feel stupid for not realizing it, "I'll be marrying into their family... Father will have to give me up."

You feel so giddy and then guilty...

Both you and Cavan finally felt comfortable with each other again after that stressful night of confessing and doing some 'venting' as you both decided to refer to it. You can happily admit that yes, you are in love with him. The falling in love phase didn't last long until your heart was caught in his hands. You want to take things slow still, grow this budding relationship but there's this strange need to get closer.

"Any way, that'll save your hide from working in the family business. Luctux has something worked out for Cavan, but the both of you will need to decide if you want to get married before he leaves or when he gets back," Elli adds.

You were holding a mug of tea and then you weren't. It didn't shatter but the thud was loud enough to quiet the cabin. You can't tell if it's from the aspect of marriage or from Cavan leaving but the shock of it made you stiff. The guys look over at you and you carefully sit down across from your sister.

"We should give them some time to talk things over Lady Elli," Luctux nods his head towards the door and your sister sighs in agreement.

She slides a hand over your shoulder as she leaves, "There's always a catch and the fine print is very thin. There's no loophole in this one, I've simmered long enough on it."

"Thank you Elli... I know you'd tell me if there was another way," you smile up at your sister.

She and Luctux excuse themselves, the little cabin quiet now. Cavan is at your side, his long finger skimming up your arm, "Do you want to go for a walk? It's a nice day out today."

"Are you asking to avoid talking about this or do you think some fresh air will help," you sigh.

"You know me too well sunshine, but no, I don't plan on avoiding this. We're both in too deep now and honestly and despite everything that's happened, I wouldn't change a thing. I'm glad you pushed me into confessing to you. I'm glad I suggested a fake engagement. I'm glad that I got your first kiss. Hells I'm glad for the stern talk both of our fathers gave me at the party. I love you and I'm glad that you finally know," he lowers himself and takes your hand, kissing your knuckles.

You don't say anything when you stand, too afraid to open your mouth in fear that you might start crying. You have to follow through with this now, there's really no way out and yet deep deep down you're more afraid to admit that you don't feel stuck and that this plan grants you more freedom than you ever dared to dream. The only problem is that one way or another you'd be getting married.
