Strange, mysterious, beautiful woman appearing in the middle of the night out of nowhere. Stars that have only appeared once before. Hearing music from astronomical objects consisting of a luminous spheroid of plasma held together by its own gravity thousands of light years away. I'm all for getting sucked into one's own imagination but this is a lot by anyone's standards.

I look back up at the stars and then back down at her. My heart slows as I fix my gaze on the expression on her face. I've never seen a happier expression. And it's not just joy. It's peace as well. I look back up at the stars and close my eyes. The sounds of the city around me are flooding my ears and I'm starting to think maybe she just likes the city noises.
"Open your heart," she whispers. "Listen with your heart. You can hear their music."
I follow the sound of her voice as it fades through the noise and then everything goes quiet. No braking dogs, moving cars, busy houses and streets. It's like I went deaf in the darkness. Then in the distance I hear something. I try to listen closer and follow the sound. It's a faint melody in the distance. It's music.
"I can hear their music." I whisper. Her thumbs shrift behind my ears and she holds my head tighter and like a wave crashing onto the shore my mind explodes with sound. It's unlike anything I have ever heard. I can't just hear it, I can see it too. Smell it. Feel it touching every inch of my body inside and outside. I've never experienced anything like it before but at the same time it reminds me of ever beautiful moment I have ever lived through. The sound keep growing louder from all directions as my fear gives way to a joy I've never felt before. Soon that joy gives birth to peace. I feel like I've been reborn. Nothing else exists anymore. It's just the sound. Then she removes her hands from my face and as suddenly as it came to me it disappears. I slowly open my eyes and the sounds of the city return to my ears. I bend down and gasp for air when I realize I've been holding my breath. The blood is rushing through my body and my heart is about tear a hole in my chest.
"Breath." I hear her say as she puts one hand on my chest and another on my back. Her face is right next to mine as I try to catch my breath. I turn my head and face her. Looking into her brown eyes feels like I'm being sucked into a vortex so I look back down.
"Wh- What was that?" I blurt out between deep breaths. "What just happened to me?"
She lets go of me and stands up straight as a tear drops from my face. I didn't even notice I was crying. I wipe my face with one hand and stand up straight.
"A long time ago humans were the same as all the beasts of the earth," she begins, "The only purpose they had was ensuring the survival of their species. No love, no passion, no art. Just survival." She pauses and looks up at the stars with a smile. Her beautiful eyes mirror the sky. "Then one night those three stars appeared, and a girl listened. She listened for three nights and shared what she had heard with everyone. She sang the first melody. Drew the first drawing. Played the first instrument. Made love for the first time. Told the first joke. Played the first game. She changed the world forever. Now they have returned to see what we have made of their gift."
"Will they ever show up again?" I ask.
"Nobody knows," She answers.
"How do you know all this?"
She stands silently, still looking at the stars and then she looks into my eyes. And I knew the answer.
"Will you disappear with the stars?" I ask hoping she will say no.
"Yes," She says and I feel something shift inside me.
"Will I ever see you again?"
"Nobody knows."
She begins walking out onto the street then she pauses at the edge of the light spread out by the light pole.
"Goodnight, creepy guy behind the curtain." She says with a smile and then turns around and walks into the darkness down the hill.
When she fades from view the street light flickers above me and then dies. I walk back into the house and as I close the curtains I look up at the sky and whisper to the stars. To her.

"My name is Levi."
