"Dixie please don't go." Noah said as he grabbed Dixie hand.
"Noah please let me go, we can't keep going like this." She tried to wiggle her hand out of Noahs grasp but it was too tight.
The tears that she was trying to hold in soon came rolling down her face. She was scared, not of him, but of their future.
"Loving you is hurting me Noah. I need to go." She said as her voice became shaky.
Those words broke Noah's heart into a million pieces.
"Dixie please, I can fix this, just give me a second chance." She sighed. She had give him multiple chances over the months and now he said he would change.
"Noah, I have given you many chances, this has been going on for months! I love you but it's hurting me. You have been sleeping in the guest bedroom for months and we fight everyday. Nothing is getting better. I can't just keep staying here if it just stays the same."
He slowly let go of her hand and watched her slowly back up. "I'm sorry I caused you so much pain. I never meant to hurt you. What about us? I want to better myself for you. I can't lose you Dixie."
"Just give me space. Once I'm ready we can try to fix this." Noah watched as she went into their room and packed a small bag.
She filled it with her everyday things. He didn't know how long she would be gone for; hours, days, weeks, months or even years.
They were fighting because they were both stressed and overwhelmed. They ended up taking it out on each other.
Even if they were fighting, Noah couldn't get the thought of losing her out of his mind. He remembered when life was easier for the both of them, when they were happy.
But like the saying, nothing last forever, slowly became true and their relationship slowly turned into a living nightmare.
What if she found someone new? What if she completely moved on from me. Found someone who made her happier, someone who treated her better.
Those thoughts took over Noah's mind. He was scared. He didn't want to throw their 1 year relationship away, but they couldn't keep going the way they were.
"Goodbye Noah." Dixie kissed Noah's cheek as they both had tears running down their cheeks.
Noah watched as Dixie took her bag and rolled it out of the apartment, not looking back.
He didn't try to stop her, because he knew if he did nothing would be solved. He would just make everything worse.
He knew she would come back, their love was too strong.
---------
It had been a month since Dixie had left. They kept no contact; no texts or calls.
Noah had used the time apart to be a better boyfriend for Dixie. He hated the way he handled things before.
All the yelling they would exchange, they hadnt slept in the same bed for weeks. It was like their love was toxic, but non of them wanted to leave, until dixie had enough.
Noah had been kicking himself to get better since the day Dixie left. He finally started going to therapy. He worked on himself, he didn't want to let Dixie down again.
He wanted to hold her in his arms like they once did, share the non toxic love they used to have.
He decided that he would text Dixie and invite her for dinner at the apartment. He knew she would most likely not respond but it was a worth a shot.
