JAY'S POV
I come to with a nice hard slap across the face. Mikel is standing above me looking rather frustrated.
I look at him for a moment as everything sinks in. I sit up slowly and rub my face. "You're telling me that the girl I love is your granddaughter? How can you be so sure?" I ask.
He smiles briefly and responds simply, "She's a spitting image of her mother. Change her eyes to a striking neon green and that's her all the way."
I nod once and smile. "Are you telling me that I can still be with her. I just have to keep reminding myself that I love her more than my need to kill?"
He nods once and that's all it takes. I shoot up and start for the door. Mikel stops me and says, "If you can, bring her. I want to meet her."
I smile and run to my car. I hit the road speeding. I'm back in city limits in half the time it took me to get to the old man's. I'm at Misty's apartment in another ten minutes. I run up the stairs and am at her door when I notice it still slightly open. I inch it open slowly and what I hear stops my heart.
She's still crying. Not softly but sobs so intense it makes my bones ache. I walk in slowly and open her bedroom door to find her curled up on the floor. I crouch next to her and stroke her hair out of her face. She looks up at me with pain and confusion before launching herself at me. I grip her tightly before kissing her brow.
"Jay what.. What happened. I thought you left me. It hurt so much!" She cried.
"Shhh babe. I'm here and I'm not leaving, I promise you that" I say softly.
