𝓒𝓱𝓪𝓹𝓽𝓮𝓻 𝓽𝔀𝓸| 𝓝𝓾𝓸𝓿𝓪 𝓐𝓵𝓫𝓪

As morning came the next day, Artemis woke to complete silence which wasn't normal usually it would be the old bastard that would come and give her a daily dose or her so-called mother beating her awake to make her and her husband breakfast. 

this alone was enough to put Artemis on high alert, as she got out of bed with still slight pain from her ribs she made her way downstairs where there was no trace of the two when suddenly, there was a knock on the front door, thinking that is was probably jeff who came back home shit face drunk and couldn't find his keys with a sigh Artemis went to open the door, only to see two police officers one male one female.

The male officer said, "are you Artemis Smith" with a cold look Artemis replied "just Artemis, and yes I am here what can I do for you today officers. then the female officer cleared her throat and said "we are here to inform you, about something may we come in" stepping aside Artemis let them in kind of confused, and said "what is this about?" the officer said, "do you know where your mother and stepfather are?" Artemis looked at them confused and said "no i haven't seen them since yesterday why?" the female officer sighed and said "your mother and stepfather were both in a car accident, they were found carrying heavy amount of drugs" 

Artemis wasn't surprised that they had drugs and dumbly said "ok so are going to jail" the officer looked at her with sadness and said "Artemis sweetheart, nobody survived the crash" silence filled the room, when soon Artemis felt tears prick in her eyes, the police officers looked at her with pity something that she hated, to any normal person would think she is devastated at the death of her parents but, she was crying because she was free, this was the start of a new beginning for her a new life, new dawn.

A few minutes later then she said "where am I going to live now?" their male officer said "first you need to come with us for further questioning and we need to find if you have any relatives as you aren't legal yet" then Artemis nodded and said "let me just get my things" as she went upstairs she smiled widely knowing that this was her beginning and went on her phone and texted the group chats letting the group know about the situation then, heading to her mother's room to grab all of her important papers and all the money that she had taken from her over the years, from all her jobs and stuffed them in her bag and went downstairs where the female cop said "ready to go?" she gave her a curt nod as a response and they left the house, not once did she look back, this was the house that broke her, this same house took everything from her and now that she has found the peace she won't ever be looked down on again.

when they reached the police station they had sat her down and asked her almost everything about her mother and stepfather and with the cold expression that she usually had she answered everything about their day to day but didn't answer anything about what had been happening behind closed doors, they didn't need to know about that. 

soon enough the interrogation ended and another female officer walked to her said said "will you come with me we have to take your DNA and put it into the system to look for any family members that you could possibly stay with" Artemis looked at her with her infamous cold look and said "I don't have any other family, my other didn't ever tell me otherwise" the officer looked at her before replying "we still have to do this it's the protocol" not wanting to make the woman job harder by giving attitude she gave her fingerprint and saliva on a cotton swab after the female said "it should be done in a matter of 3 hours, before then you can stay in here" she said before walking away.

after she walked away Artemis took her phone to call Vera, she was met with a natural hello and said "hey babes, you saw my text right" Vera slightly scoffed and said "yeah i got it serves them right I hope they rot in hell" Artemis smiled at her best friends words and said "yeah I'm in the police station right now they are trying to look for any family members of whatever" she was met with a hmm and said "after school, I need you to all meet at the railroad, if they do find anything we need to talk" she was met with another, hmm and then Vera said "ok but how are you doing like really?" Artemis thought she didn't really know what to feel, she hated them and everything they did to her but because of it she taught herself to be strong to fight, but she replied saying "I'm fine really." then Vera said "ok, i got to go before Mrs. Hamilton blows her top, love you" then Artemis replied with a hmm and hung up

Three hours later...

The same female officer walked back into the room with a smile on her face as she said "ok Artemis i have really good news, we have found your brothers and they are willing to take you in they will be here tomorrow morning" with that Artemis was beyond shocked at what she was hearing, Brothers?? the old bat never mention having any sons, with that Artemis said "are you that they are my brothers?" the officer only smiled and said "yup you have a 99% compatibility you should be happy and they are really well off, and i am sure they will take good care of you! your social worker will be here tomorrow" she said excitedly and left the room, leaving Artemis to think by herself.

Brothers huh.
