Chapter 1 - Theatrics
"What the bloody hell is that?"
Draco questioned as Theo giddily slid an obnoxiously red and white-colored piece of paper into the middle of the Slytherin dining table.
"Ooh yay another play. I think I'll get a part this year." Squealed Pansy as she clapped her hands and quickly grabbed the paper.
Draco drew his gaze at the giggly raven-haired girl next to him. His eyes narrowed on the paper she was reading intently.
"Romeo and Juliet?"
"Yeah mate, it's Shakespeare." Replied Theo.
"What kind of name is Romeo?" Scoffed Draco.
Pansy let out a laugh. "Please, you are named after a constellation. Besides, Romeo is a right gentleman and a true romantic. He has a handsome name."
Theo eyed Draco and as their eyes met, they both erupted in laughter.
"What's so fucking funny?" snarled Pansy as she slammed the paper back into the middle of the table.
"Oh, I don't know. Maybe it's the fact that your gushing over a guy when we all know that a pair of boobs gets you more excited than you were a few seconds ago." Chuckled Theo.
"Weasley's boobs to be exact." Added Draco.
"Wow, way to subject a woman to her God-given body parts. Such a gentleman. No wonder you've never heard of Romeo. " Pansy huffed as she reached to fill her plate with some more bacon.
"We're just teasing Pans. We are only working you up so you can finally muster up the strength to confess your undying love for the ginger. " Said Blaise.
"Sorry, no one can have such a foolproof cinematic romance that you and Luna have developed Blaise." Concluded Theo as he reached for the paper.
"I think I'll try for a part this year too. I'm tired of costume design. I mean I'm bloody fabulous at it, but I think I need to broaden my horizons. My talents need to be seen! " Exclaimed Theo.
"I think Luna and I will do lights and stage design like we usually do. I'll talk to her later. She really enjoys all the theatrics. " Remarked Blaise.
"So, it looks like the Slytherin gang takes Romeo and Juliet?" Questioned Pansy.
Everyone muttered their "yeahs" some with a little more enthusiasm than others, all except the blonde hair boy picking at his breakfast looking uncomfortable.
They all turned to look at him. Deep into his head, eyes blaring, he looked down at his plate.
He slowly looked up, meeting all their intense stares.
"No bloody way. No. Absolutely not. I don't need to pretend to be someone else on a stage. I quite enjoy the beauty that I already am thank you very much."
Theo and Blaise chuckled as Pansy grabbed Draco's arm unexpectedly. She began shaking him. She looked at him through her long lashes and gave him her best attempt at her puppy dog eyes.
"Please, please, please, please Drakey. It's the last play before we graduate. We have all been participating in them since they started, and we have such a great time. But you know what would make this final hoorah even better? " Pleaded Pansy.
"Earplugs and an eye mask?"
"No, you utter prat. You. Having the whole group doing something together one last time would be nice. We just need you. " Pansy added, as her lip began to tremble. She let a few tears fall onto Draco's robe as she held his arm.
"Ugh, I'll think about it. Only because you actually might get a decent part with the dramatics you just portrayed for us. "
Pansy wiped her tears and let go of his arm. A giant smile plastered on her face. "That was good, wasn't it? I've been practicing. What better way to show my new skills than on the brooding skeptical Draco Malfoy. "
"Maybe show them to Weasley?" said Theo as he shoveled a whole spoonful of cereal into his mouth.
"Manners Theodore. Please don't pester me about Ginny. I mean we all know why you do these plays every year. I think the reason rhymes with Glarry Dotter. "
Draco's eyes widened. That was a new one. He knew Theo had an interesting choice of lovers, but this was a hoot. Harry Potter. Theo fancied the chosen one. Draco chuckled.
"Anyways, Is Granger the one putting the play together this year? She's always been a good stage director. " Asked Blaise.
He was good at that, Blaise, despite his name, was always the calm one, the mediator. He was able to diffuse any situation between them. When things were awkward, he would make jokes or change the topic. When people began to argue, he would be able to maneuver the conversation until you forgot you were angry in the first place.
He was too good for them. No matter what happened, the good, the bad, the ugly, he stuck around. They loved him but not as much as Luna loved him, and him her.
Draco was brought out of his thoughts as they mentioned Gryffindor's Princess name once again.
"Yeah. She always does them. I think McGonagall wants to boost "morale" among the older students. What better way to diminish the doom and gloom of the war than with a Shakespearean tragedy? "
"Do you always do Shakespur?" asked Draco.
"It's Shakespeare first of all and, yes, apparently, Granger and all the other girls love the Elizabethan romance portrayals."
"You mean, we like the angst and the enemies to lovers tropes, and maybe some smut if we're lucky," Pansy corrected with a wink.
All three boys turned their heads quickly at the word smut.
"What did you call me?" Joked Theo.
"Smut? What the fuck is smut? " Asked Draco
"Oh, never mind, you will learn soon enough." Pouted Pansy.
"Yeah, sure whatever. Anyway, you said Granger directs these? "
"Snared your interest now it seems, hmm?" pestered Theo
"Not really." Draco subtly tried to steer the conversation away from the Gryffindor. "What does the play entail. Magic? "
"The magic of loveeee" squealed Pansy as she wiggled her eyebrows at him.
"Yeah. Sorry to burst your bubble Pans, but no way in Hell am I joining you lot now. "
Blaise waved his goodbyes as Luna came up to the table to take him to their daily study sessions at the Black Lake.
Pansy and Luna hugged, and Luna asked if she wanted to join them. Much to Blaise's dismay, she agreed. The four took off, leaving only Theo and Draco.
"I'm about to head to class, but a quick word of advice. We all know you wouldn't want the world to know you joined our escapade of Shakespearean acts willingly, but Slughorn often makes those who get detention participate in the plays, so choose your cards Drakey." Chuckled Theo as he offered him a quick wink and sauntered out of the Great Hall.
