Slytherin Boy Dorm Rooms, Friday, 5:00 am
Audition day
"ooo"

"OOOOO"
"AHHHH"
"DO YOU BITE YOUR THUMB AT US, SIR?"
"NO SIR I DO NOT BIT MY THUMB AT YOU—"
"It's five o'clock in the morning, Theo; what the bloody hell are you screaming on about?"Blaise? You're up too? It's too early for this." Spoke Draco groggily as he groaned and rolled back over, shoving the pillow over his ears.
"The early bird catches the worm sunshine. I have to do these exercises or it's bad luck." Said, Theo.
"I'm only awake because Granger wants Luna and me up at the buttcrack of dawn to begin stage design." Honestly, Draco he will be at these exercises for hours. Just cast a quick muffilato and continue your beauty sleep. See you lot at breakfast." Whispered Blaise as he grabbed his tie and strolled out of the room.
Draco drew the drapes around his four-poster bed, drowning out the sound of Theo's rehearsal.
He tried to fall back asleep, but it was useless. He had barely managed to get some sleep last night, the encounter with Granger stuck on repeat in his head.
He overthought every word she spoke, and every subtle reaction painted on her delicate face. The way her eyes had a glint of surprise when he spoke, the way the blush crept up ever so slightly on her cheeks at the mention of her mouth from his.
Draco let out a groan of frustration. He rolled onto his back staring at the ceiling, admiring the stars and constellations that strayed across.
Narcissa had taught him the spell in his second year. He often had nightmares. He would wake up in tears and drenched in sweat. About what? He couldn't remember. Not that he would want to.
When he was home at the manor a few years ago, he awoke his mother from one of those horrifying dreams, screaming. She went into his room. She knew Draco would not talk about his nightmares, so instead, she rubbed his back and sang him a lullaby.
Draco could not quite remember the words, because he was too focused on the galaxy glistening above his head as she sang. Like counting sheep, she told him to count the stars, pointing out the constellations as she went.
Several years later, he still uses the spell on restless nights, finding comfort in the infinite darkness.
Draco ran his hands over his face knowing he was not going to be able to go back to sleep.
He threw open the drapes, and, to no surprise, was met once again, with the deafening sound of Theo's attempt at early modern English.
"Oh, good you're still up. I need your help memorizing lines."
"You don't even have a part yet."
"Such a downer. You're supposed to hype me up, mate." Exclaimed Theo.
"You're such a drama queen. Fine, hand me the script."
Draco read over the lines he had heard Theo yelling this morning.
