The sun beamed brightly as I pushed the gas petal as hard as I could, switching on the oil lever and laughing hard as I watched Calvin from the Renegades car flip sideways. I hit the curve smoothly as the sight of the finish line neared, this was my last round... this was it. I spotted Alex's Charger creeping up in the distance, making a sour sensation in my stomach as I neared the finish line before twisting the last curve successfully, I hydroplaned it smoothly and dodged the wreckage left behind from a missile colliding with the Vipers' signature car. I took a heavy breath as I glanced in the rearview mirror to see the Charger still approaching, making me smile lightly at his effort, but it was no match for the turbo I had cheatingly used.
It was finally down to Alexander and I, and my heart was doing backflips knowing what was about to happen, one of us was going to die.
"Can we? Can we... surrender?"
I felt a shockwave rush my body at the sight of the black and white checkered banner hanging just above the dark overpass, the loud cheering had vanished from my ears as I listened to the song that had started playing in the car. I felt a wave of anxiety, a wave of depression, a wave of... every emotion in the world as my foot unknowingly started pushing hard on the brake. I blinked a few times to stop myself from going into autopilot as I looked in the rearview once more at the sight of the missile launcher being used by one of Harper's guards prepared itself to hit Alex's car. I glanced beside me and smiled at Mickey as he looked at me with a teary face, his eyes were both blackened and we had gagged him to keep him from catching attention... I thank Freddie for the idea of dark tint on the windows.
"I surrender..."
Alexander
I pushed the wheelchair up to the movie stand and tucked my hands in my pockets, glancing around and shivering as the snow fluttered around, the street had been painted a soft white with the Christmas lights twinkling in the distance, it was elegant. Even dressed in two sweaters and a pair of thick pants and snow boots, the thirty-three degrees was something no one talked about in the winter wonderland. I never knew it got so cold in Michigan sometimes, and sometimes it was even colder than this! I glanced up at the different signs that was hanging on one of the entrances, I grabbed the handles of the wheelchair and pushed it closer to the window with a ticket worker scribbling in a few numbers on the sheet of paper. I waved kindly at her as she glanced at me before returning it, I pulled the front of my mask down and leaned close enough so she could hear me.
"I need three tickets to Batman, please." I told her.
"Alright, that'll be $41.11." She said, making me nod slowly as I reached to grab my wallet from my back pocket.
"Here." A grumpy voice muttered before a hand went beside my head and handed the lady a fifty-dollar bill.
"Out... of... fifty?" The worker looked confused as she looked between us, but I ignored her as I turned to look at Lloyd, who looked more comfortable than me.
Believe it or not, his ass was dressed in a white tee with a simple throw-on jacket, his jeans were tucked into his shoes as he stood, waiting patiently for the tickets without a worry in the world, these damn Michiganders are way too used to cold weather. I shook my head at the sight of him with a simple eye roll but deep down I was glad he had gotten off work in time to meet me at the movies like he promised. Paz and I had arrived early enough to get three tickets and step aside until Lloyd arrive so he could see the movie with us, and because Paz adored Lloyd as much as I did, he insisted that Lloyd had to come.
"Thanks." I said, grabbing the wheelchair handles as Paz eagerly smiled at the sight of Lloyd. "Look who's here, Paz."
"Like I promised." Lloyd smirked, walking in front of us to open the door for me and Paz, who was now wheelchair bound.
I pulled Paz to a sitting area and dismissed myself to get some theatre snacks while they conversated about who knows, Paz truly enjoyed conversating with Lloyd all the time and I wasn't sure why, Lloyd was annoying at many times. However, he had only grew on me more and more as the days went by, and I was glad that he had chose to come spend some free time with Paz and I.
"Hey, can I get a medium popcorn with extra butter, some nachos, and a KitKat, please?" I ordered. "Oh, and two large Pepsi, thanks."
"Sure, $39.20." I nodded while grimacing on the inside at the prices here, that's ridiculous but I'm not surprised.
I took my receipt and walked back to where Paz and Lloyd were sitting, Lloyd was questioning Paz about his new blankets that Lloyd had gifted him, considering I had accidentally bleached the last ones. He's a life saver at times, believe it if you will.
"We're going to be in room 13... you two can go while I wait on the stuff." I informed them while gesturing to one of the workers preparing our order.
"Alright, we'll go save some seats." Lloyd smiled, making me smile back at him before leaning forward and lowering the front of my mask once more.
The kiss was quick and clean, probably almost unnoticed if someone wasn't paying attention, and that's how I liked his public kisses. I watched as Lloyd pushed Paz down a hallway that led to our designated area, making me smile at the sight of Lloyd helping me and the fact that he was here right now was intoxicating. I knew he had promised but even I had second guessed him at first since he arrived later than our original time planned, but he was here after all and I was grateful that I didn't have to break that news to Paz, it would sadden him. The thought of Lloyd being around forever made me smile.
Lloyd Marcus, himself, makes me smile.
"Order 238?" I jerked out of my thoughts and glanced at me receipt.
I walked forward and thanked the worker as I took the disposable tray they had provided for us, I walked down the same hallway as Lloyd and Paz and entered the theatre room as the previews played. I glanced around to see it wasn't very packed yet, and I was thankful because I didn't want to fight to get past people that would crowd in once the movie actually started. Lloyd had picked a lower spot and I moved to where they were sitting with Paz slightly blocking the walkway with his wheelchair, oh well, they'll have to deal with it.
"Popcorn?" I asked, handing it to Lloyd and he thanked me before pulling his mask off and popping a piece in his mouth.
"Oh, extra buttery, you know me so well." He chuckled lowly, sending vibrations through my stocky body.
"Yeah, you're the only one that eats all that cholesterol." I joked back, amazed with how I really opened up with him.
"You're my cholesterol." He whispered to me, making me roll my eyes and chuckle.
"And you're my blood pressure." I chuckled in response, swatting him in the chest before opening Paz's KitKat for him.
"Fair enough." Lloyd responded.
I surrender to him... not just physically, but mentally, emotionally and intimately.
