Tough Love
Chapter 2
We ate lunch and Jace left to go home. My mom and I watched some TV, and then went to bed. I sighed and started fixing my bed to go to sleep. I finally fell asleep after an hour of tossing and turning restlessly. The next morning I got up, got dressed, and went out on the close to empty beach. I was looking down walking when another shadow appeared next to mine, I looked up, scared for a second. But there was no need to, it was just Jace. We walked on a little farther before I said something.
“Well, I’m going to get breakfast, you can come if you want.”
“OK, I’ve already eaten, but I’ll go with you.”
So we walked back to the beach house and went inside. I fixed breakfast and we sat down at the table. Jessie and Alys wanted to see what he looked like, so I asked him if I could take a picture and then went to get my camera. I came back, sat down, and set up my camera. I took the picture, and started chuckling.
“What?” he answered back “ I look really bad don’t I?”
Then I burst out laughing.
“What are you laughing at?”
“You…did you ask…me if you…looked bad…in the picture?” I managed to say through my laughter.
“Yeah, I did.” He admitted sheepishly.
“That’s what I’m laughing at, my best friend Jessie does that, Jessie’s a girl.” I said and started laughing again.
“Har de har har.” He replied sarcastically, then started laughing himself, “I did sound like a girl then didn’t I?”
“Yeah, you did.”
We laughed for a little while longer, and just talked, we told eachother stuff about ourselves, and telling stupid things that our friends did while I ate my breakfast.
I decided to go ahead and send the picture to Jess and Alys, so I went upstairs to do that, telling them about him, and what he did when I started laughing. Then went back downstairs to see Jace standing out the window, looking out at the beach.
“You wanna go walk on the beach?” I asked, and he jumped and spun around.
“Yeah,” he replied, “I guess we can go out on the beach.”
