"So, you want to know about your former self. "

Daniel states without so much as giving me a glance.

"Um, yeah. "

"Why?"

"Excuse me? "

"Why, are you interested in your former self? "

He pronounces each word slowly as if I'm thick.

"What do you mean by that? "

He sighes heavily and stands up like I'm being really difficult.

"What made you come and ask me about her now? "

Just then I remember the note.

"Oh. Um, I received a note but it wasn't like her usual notes. "

I hand Daniel the note. He opens it and reads it through (the notes are private, none of the staff are allowed to read them).

"It's a poem. "

"I know that. But my former self has never been this vague before, I know what the poem means but I don't know what to do with it. "

"Well, what does it mean?"

So I explain what I think the poem means.

"So, what do you think you should do with that poem? "

"Um, I think that I should learn from it. I should try to live by it. "

"Than why are you intruding in my office?"

"I just wanted to know why she wouldn't just tell me that."

"Because she wanted you to figure it out yourself. She wants you to be able to see it yourself. "
