The dinner was... weird after our chat We ate silently, well... he ate. I felt awful I felt even worse now he was sat next to me on the sofa. He was so close.
"What do you want to do baby?" He asked "Can I go to bed?" I asked, I didn't want to be in his company He frowned, before shuffling even closer to me "Or... we can watch a film? Like we used to" he suggested.
Like we used to Yeah... before you were a murderer "I'm tired" is all I could offer "Come on flower-" "Why did you do it?" I asked "Do what?" He asked confused.
"Kill her. Why did you do it?" I asked He looked taken aback for a moment, before he cleared his throat "Because she was going to break us apart, it was the only way" he said "No it wasn't, you could have kidnapped her just like you did me, you didn't need to... you didn't..." I couldn't get my words out.
He didn't say anything He just sat there, staring at me, his dark hair falling across his forehead in that messy way it always does I used to think it was cute, that he was handsome and sweet but...
"How did you do it?" I asked "I told you I didn't want to talk about this" he said calmly "Tell me. You want us to be together right?" I asked, he nodded immediately "Then tell me. We can't move past this unless you're truthful Knox" I said, I didn't want to deceive him.
After all he'd done I still felt... guilty, for manipulating him like this But I couldn't stand it, I couldn't stay here Trapped or... dead He didn't speak for a while, he just stared at me, before reaching out and taking a curl of my hair in between his fingers.
"I... um... I strangled her" he said, shocking me into place "Why?" I asked again "She just... she wouldn't shut up. She wouldn't... she never just fucking shuts up baby" he said calmly, his voice so soft and desperate, someone would almost feel... sorry for him.
"She called me names, she was going to take you away Marigold, she was going to take you from me, that's all they try and do, they just keep trying to tear us apart" he explained, looking up into my eyes pleadingly "They?" I whispered.
He stiffened, before nodding "I love you" he said "Who's they?" I asked "I really... really love you" he sighed, ducking his head down "Knox" I let out shakily "They... they are just... other people intent on ruining what we have" he said.
"Who's they?... your... your parents?" I asked. The blood in their room, the lack of clothes missing and all the fucking pills. The therapy. Had he... had he done something to them? "My parents... they tried yeah... didn't succeed though did they? I managed to keep you safe and with me" he said.
