A very businesslike atmosphere is reigning in the dining room.

"Are you hungry, lovely girl?" Vera is in a beautiful white trouser suit. She looks like a real businesswoman. Well, I doubt the siblings only own the coffeeshop. Perhaps their small business is just a cover. "How about a cup of aromatic Colombian coffee and nice pancakes with strawberries and cream?" She takes me by the shoulders walking me to the table.

Breakfast looks so delicious that I immediately pounce on the food, peacefully watching my mermaid who is quietly arguing about something with Alex.

Doris got up before me. I wanted to join her in the shower, but after her sweet kiss, my eyelids closed for another forty minutes. She doesn't notice that I'm sitting at the table. Wow, she looks so stunning so I can't even take my eyes off her: gorgeous bodycon dress with roll neck and long sleeves. But she's not in a mood, for her lips are pursed; she watches with irritation as the witcher and Juni place purple crystals in all the dark corners of the room.

Juni looks kinda different: some subtle shadows seem to float around her. When the dryad gets up after tucking another magical thingy under an old-fashioned rocking chair, I freeze with a fork in my mouth. Something dangerous appears in her, like in that terrible witch who kissed me (feels like a hundred years ago). Juni's eyes are cold and stern when she looks at me. Her gaze softens a little when she glances at Doris.

"You are already awake! Did you sleep well?" the mermaid doesn't notice Juni looking at us. She quickly comes up to me, throws her arms around me, and kisses me in front of everyone. I blush knowing that they are looking at us, but I don't move away from her, on the contrary, I embrace the mermaid allowing her to deepen the kiss. I only come to my senses when I hear the click of the camera. Looking over my shoulder, I see that Vera is taking pictures of us.

"Pray forgive my fingers!" she giggles, "I just couldn't resist. You are such a beautiful couple!"

I blink, because I see that some kind of black shadow is hovering around her too. I feel uncomfortable. I never noticed it before, and I always viewed them as friendly and caring, but it's like I feel as if there's something stuck in between us.

I decide not to dwell on my nagging feelings, but focus all my attention on Doris. I call her quietly, gently putting a strawberry in her mouth. Obediently Doris takes the berry naughtily licking my fingers, but she chews and swallows it with difficulty, squeezing out a martyr's smile.

Alex laughs, "You can do anything for your Earth Goddess, can't you?"

"Don't talk nonsense!" Doris growls at him.

"What is he talking about?" The word "Goddess" is too often mentioned after my strange meeting with a little boy.

"Nothing! He's just kidding! Don't mind him," Doris says in an upset voice.

"Of course, he's kidding," I chuckle awkwardly as I straighten my wrinkled T-shirt. "I look nothing like Goddess! Ehh... What are you doing? Why do you need these crystals?" I'm trying to clear the air.

"This is a trap for the Children," Juni says harshly. She stands just like a tall poplar. Her chin is raised high as if she wants to drive me into a trap too.

"Wait, what sort of trap you are talking about?" I gasp. "They're just kids!"

"One of your Children nearly killed me, Goddess," she says it with anger.

"You attacked him first! He was just defending himself. He had no choice!" I fire my words off.

I'm embarrassed. I don't even understand why I'm so fiercely protecting some magical spirits of children, but I don't like that they want to catch and offend them.
