Half Bruja, Half Voodoo

Chapter 12

Desiree POV, Alanza's School

I am so nervous that I am trembling, David and Alexander were confused on why I was nervous. Marcus understood my nervousness due to his experience with witches. "My love, what is wrong?" Alexander asked. Marco grabbed my hand, trying to soothe me. "A couple of these tests could either kill me or worse, have me trapped for all eternity. Even if I do pass, I don't know how to lead. I will have a bigger target on my back when I have to find my successor. I don't know-," I tried to say before Alexander gave me a hug. "You are a strong woman, you would make a great princess and high priestess," said Alexander. Marco squeezed my hand and David rubbed my back soothingly. 

I am wearing a black robe worn underneath it is a night gown  and underneath. It doesn't help that I am barefooted and in front of strangers and loved ones. My tests were being video conferenced so other covens can see. Since I am competing with other witches, it is going to be a doozy. A lot of the witches are giving me the stink-eye or curious looks. Witches have one chance to prove that they are a high priestess. The little kids were in the entertainment room with Alanza's governess. Here goes nothing!

Test One - Telekinesis

We were tasked in using telekinesis to bring an object to us. There are thirteen witches competing with me. There were two weren't able to do it while the rest of us passed. Marco was cheering me on while David and Alexander looked proud.

Test Two - Pyrokinesis 

 Three witches weren't able to do this task but the rest of us passed. We were tasked with lighting candles. It was a piece of cake. 

Test Three - Necromancy

We were tasked with bringing back recently killed frogs. I told my guys that a lot of witches can't bring things back to life, but they can transfer some of their energy to the dead to revive them. Transferring energy can be risky as a witch is using their own energy. Two witches failed this task, I don't really need to transfer my energy.

Test Four - Divination

We had to find certain objects by using certain things to find them. We all passed with flying colors. The witches sighed in relief to my amusement.

Test Five - Conjuration

We all conjured up different things. The others conjured up some shallow or useless things they wanted while I conjured up a lego set for Hector. I gave it to David to hold until we meet up with Hector. 

Test Six - Transmutation

We were all able to do this. One witch transmuted or teleported herself to the point where she fell down the steps and broke her neck. I had to bring her back to life. Marco was not surprised by this, but the other two were mortified. You have to be able to see where you are going and mind your surroundings. This is the same witch that was giving the stink eye.

Test Seven - Astral Projection

We were tasked with traveling to the afterlife. We have to visit our own hells. We have to lie down for this. I said my incantation: Desciendeme a la otra vida, guiame. Por que soy un simple visitante. My own hell is my killers killing me over and over the same way the Salem witches were killed. We all passed!

Test Eight - Animal Connection  

We are supposed to manifest an animal we are thinking about and be able to communicate with them. Two witches were unable to do this. The four remaining witches either manifested black cats or small purse dogs while I manifested an owl. We had an intellectual conversation with each other.

Test Nine - Combustion 

Our task was to blow stuff up with magic. We all combusted vases and I used magic to put them back together. Combustion is messy as hell. 

Test Ten - Healing

A couple witches had cut their own hands for the last remaining witches to demonstrate their healing powers. The last remaining witches failed this task while I passed. I would not have volunteered to cut my own hand on purpose.

Test Eleven - Mediumship

I had to use a ouija board to my horror. I was successful in using it but had to stop using it because when I asked if there was something in the house that could hurt us. It responded yes and replied that it could hurt us. We were so quick to wrap it up and burn the board immediately. 

Test Twelve - Power Negation

The ability to turn off someone's power. I aced that!

Test Thirteen - Scrying

The ability to see things like messages, visions, and prophecies on a reflective surface. We had a large mirror for me to scry on. The mirror showed me my future and it baffled me. I was in a castle, in an office, interviewing witches for my coven. I relayed the message to everyone before passing out.
