BROS BEFORE HOES
(episode 1. pilot)

"YOU SHOULDN'T EVEN BE GOING TO THIS, DANI." Marty Thornton advises as Dani sorts her hair out in the mirror that was hung up in the hallway. She rolls her brown eyes as she tucks her hair behind her ears.
JJ and the rest of the Pogues had dropped Dani off a few blocks from her house with the plan of organising a kegger down at the Boneyard. The Boneyard is the only place where Kooks, Pogues, and Tourons could come together and get wasted without anyone raising their eyebrows about it. It was also the only place where Dani could be seen talking to JJ without Topper losing his mind and starting a fight.
She turns to face her father with an annoyed look on her face. "How come you're allowing Topper to go but not me?"
"Topper can handle his drink," Marty tilts his head as he lifts himself from the counter he was leaning against. "Remember that time we gave you some of my wine at Christmas a few years back? We had to peel you off the floor multiple times."
"Dad –" Dani takes a deep breath whilst trying to hide her embarrassment. "I was 14 to start with..." She's pretty sure her eyes couldn't go any further up her sockets as she turns away and begins to walk towards the door. "I'm not 14 anymore, I'm sure I can handle a little bit of alcohol just fine."
Marty chuckles whilst shaking his head. "Aren't you going to wait for –"
Dani interrupts him almost immediately. "Nope!" She slammed the door before her Dad could retaliate.
Dani pulled out her phone to text her boyfriend before realising that he had already beaten her to it. She smiles as she reads his badly written text informing her that they were already at the Boneyard and were waiting for her. He also ended the text by telling her that they had important information to tell her about the Grady-White that the group had stumbled upon earlier on.
Dani ponders on what that could be about before her brother silently appears behind her. "Who are you texting?" Topper spoke suddenly which made his sister jump.
"Jesus Top!" Dani clutched her chest as she immediately locked her phone so Topper couldn't see who had texted her. "Warn me next time before you scare me to death!"
Topper snickers. "It's always funny to make you jump," His smile falters as he looks down and notices Dani being secretive over her phone. "Why are you being so protective of your phone?" Dani glances down quickly and realises that she had unintentionally pressed her phone screen against her stomach without even noticing.
"Oh – it's just Will texting me," Dani avoided eye contact with Topper and looked at Will's house instead, praying that he would come out and take her away from the conversation that Dani so clearly did not want to have. As though her prayers had been answered, Will steps out of his front door and looks in Dani's direction, immediately smiling when he notices his best friend.
