Y/N POV
Knocking on the door and waiting to see if Luiza was even there was excruciating. We didn't know if they were still alive. Luiza had sent out messages saying that in times of need that we should go to her house. Now that we are here I don't know if she will still let us in.
"Luiza? It's me Elena!" Elena yelled as she banged on the front doors. The doors opened and a smile appeared on my face. She was here. She was going to help us. But once I saw the gun pointed straight at Elena's face the smile was gone and I grabbed Elena and I stood in front of her.
"Stop shouting." the voice behind the gun said. "You'll draw the monsters."
"Iulian, calm down - " Elena started.
"Who's this?" Iulian said alarmed, immediately pointing the gun in Ethan's direction.
"A friend - " Elena continued.
"Stay back!" Iulian warned.
Suddenly Father started falling over. I caught him as he stumbled. "For God's sake Iulian, let us in!" I bellowed. "Can't you see we need your help here?"
"No, no, they'll smell the blood - " Iulian denied us. "You'll endanger us all!"
"Our father will die out here!" I protested.
"That's not my problem!" Iulian argued. I stood there with a look of disbelief and anger on my face. My hands were shaking from the anger this man had caused me. I wanted to smack him so badly but he was the one with a gun in his hands.
"What's going on?" Luiza said after appearing out from behind a corner.
"These people want to let a dying man into our home" he informed Luiza.
"Come now." Luiza said. "'These people' are our friends. Go on, go inside. Come now, this way." Luiza took my father and guided him into the house beckoning Elena and I to follow. I looked back to see Iulian still pointing the gun at Ethan. I could still hear their conversation from inside the house.
Luiza addressed Ethan, "You're not from this village..."
Ethan was showing his hands to Iulian to show he was still not a threat, "Uh, no. I'm Ethan."
"Iulian, go make yourself useful and check the grounds." Luiza ordered. "I said go!" Luiza said after Iulian had still not moved. Reluctantly he put the gun down and stepped away from Luiza and Ethan.
"Well, if Y/N and Elena trust you... then so do I," she told Ethan with a smile. "Come inside, Ethan"
"Thank you," Ethan said to her, his voice laced gratitude.
I was standing in the main hall, a few feet from the front door to make sure that nothing would happen to Ethan. Ethan walked in after Luiza and beckoned the two of us to follow her. I have been to Luiza's house many times, her old furniture and paintings remind me of many good and bad memories. Luiza was a very close friend of my mothers and we always would visit her to chat. Once my mother died, we didn't see Luiza as often but every once in a while she would stop by to give her condolences and make sure all of us were doing ok without her.
I walked down the long hallway that led to the living room with the fireplace lit, I could hear the faint chatter of people and hope bloomed in my chest at the thought of some of the villagers that I have come to love so dearly still being alive. I turned to look back at Ethan who was behind me, he had an untrusting look on his face at the thought of new people that might show the same hostility that Iulian did.
"Come inside, the others are waiting." Luiza said as the pulled apart the cloth separating the room from the hallway. As I walked through the drapes, with Ethan close behind me, I could see Anton at the table that was drinking.
