Tommy stared in awe at the small goat like creature in front of him. He had heard of fawns before, but none lived nearby, or so he thought.
"Hello" he answered the boy, Tubbo, cautiously.
"Who are you?" The energetic fawn repeated. He started to walk towards the the young fay, startling him slightly. Not many people talked this easily.
"Names Tommy" he started "sorry to intrude I was just exploring."
"Not a problem! We barely ever get to see new-" the boy stopped abruptly. Staring at Tommy's recently freed wings.
"You're a fay."
"Yeah what about it, haven't you seen wings before jeez." Tommy always felt anxious when people mentioned his wings or heritage. I brought up memories he didn't want to deal with anymore.
"Not on a human no, everyone thought the fays were gone." Tubbo explained, a worried expression laced his large eyes. "Only one is known, and a war general in the black city."
The fay felt his face fall, what had happened? Where was the rest of his family? Who was this general? His mind pictured their homes in the forests, hundreds of his kind soaring through the air, the retired and untrained walking on bridges. A mother carrying their child, people greeting each other through the sky. Tommy remembered standing at the door of their cabin, waving to his friends from across the trees. Watching his mother and father dance around the vegetation. Stringing lights from tree to tree, plant to plant. He choked up. All of them were gone? No. He couldn't accept that.
"You ok there Tom?"

Tubbo stared at the tall blond, watching his eyes. They passed from confusion, to disbelief and sadness. The fawns father was always confused by Tubbos ability to read people. He knew this boy was burdened with something.
Neglect? Abandonment?
Something like that.
He snapped out of his thought when the fays eyes switched to anger in an instant.
"NO" he wrenched out through sobs, "YOUR WRONG"
Tubbo was taken aback by the sudden aggression, but could only stare as Tommy's entire body shook with tears and choking sobs. He watched as the boy ran, he footsteps echoing through the ground and into the sky. Thundering for many minutes, until even Tubbos hearing fail him.

Tommy did not stop running until he got to his oak tree, where he collapsed into its sturdy trunk. Wet tears pooled in his eyes, hands still shaking. He decided against climbing, merely collapsing on the ground. He gripped the tree and let the water rush down his face, nobody could see him here anyways.

When Tommy finally decided to open his eyes, the afternoon sky had turned grey. He groaned at the thought of the incoming storm and getting up alike. But he knew that Alyssa was probably worried about him, knowing that he was off on his own. She of course didn't know he was in the woods, she would never let him leave again if she did.
The boy shifted onto his hands, cursing past him for falling onto a large root.
On the walk back, he thought of the fawn. Tubbo? What an odd name, but who was he to judge. Tommy's thoughts again drifted to their conversation. It couldn't be true, all they fays were just hiding. Yes. That had to be it. He didn't know what he would do if it wasn't.
A thought flew through his head, stopping him in his tracks.
Why hadn't his Aunt told him.
She had to have known, that must have been why he was told to hide his wings. Why she gave up flying. Anger started to bubble inside. She had no right to keep that from me!
The boy sprinted home, wanting answers.
As he whizzed through the paths, the sky rumbled, matching Tommy's own anger. His feet matched the thunder, one through the ground and one through the sky.
The blond did not know what he would do once he reached the brick house, but he was prepared to do anything.
