Last night was probably the easiest I've fallen asleep since the accident last year.Granted, I was woken up at seven by FRIDAY reminding me I had a meeting with the avengers. I must say - it feels good to be an avenger again.
If I knew anything about myself, it's that I've definitely became extremely unfit since the last time I fought. Therefore, I didn't put on a comfortable tee shirt and sweat pants on to go and train after the meeting since I know I was also lazy.
"Brina, you ready?" Peter's voice called from the other side of my door whilst knocking. I didn't reply I just opened the door letting him come inside. So he did, he perched himself on the end of my bed whilst I sorted my hair out in the mirror opposite.
"Are you driving me to school after the meeting?" He asked.
"I'm not your errand girl, Pete." I replied turning around with a Bobby pin in my mouth. "Drive yourself."
"I don't have a license," he replied.
"Get one," I winked and then walked out of the door straight to the kitchen. I ate the last pop tart from the packet which Thor so kindly saved for me last night, except it already had a bite taken out of it. I rolled my eyes but continued to devour the breakfast.
I heard Peter run out of the room and slide across the hallway to the kitchen. He was clearly frustrated with me but I couldn't help but annoy him - I mean what are best friends for?
"I'll take you," I replied as I felt his eyes beam into the back of my head.
"And..."
"And I'll pick you up," I rolled my eyes and threw a banana at the boy who somehow lost his reflexes. "May was right, your Peter tingle doesn't work."
Peters face scrunched up to show his annoyance but then he gave in and munched on the banana. I pulled him by the arm into the elevator and took him down to the board room where everyone already was, seated around a long table .
They were sat around the table with Stark tech in the middle to show all of the evidence we need when we have missions to do. I took a seat at the end of the table opposite Steve and Tony who were leading the meeting. Peter sat next to me with pietro the other side of me.
"Wow, I've missed this place," I said sarcastically seeing all of the gloomy faces at the table. For someone who never usually leaves my floor I was quite excited to be out of that place. "So... what's the problem?"
Tony pulled up a photo of a hooded and masked silhouette. None of us saw a resemblance to anyone we knew so we didn't have any sort of idea as to what the task could be.
"SHIELD sent us this. We don't usually deal with lowdown problems but it seems this one is actually interesting." Tony started, to draw all of our attention. "This man has been working with a small cooperation of men which launders money, women and kids."
"Doesn't sound like a superhero thing, Tony." Steve spoke up.
"You're right, but this cooperation has strings attached to Hydra. Meaning somewhat, it is our business." He bargained making everyone seem interested.
"Why can't SHIELD or the police gather intel?" Nat asked with her chin in her hand as elbow on the desk.
"Because both of those places have rats. People in SHIELD and in the police are working with this small cooperation, trying to create a bigger and better version of Hydra. The only thing we know right now is that their tech is two steps ahead of ours and there is a slight possibility they've remade the super solider serum," Tony added.
