~Leo's POV~

"Morning!" I said to Rose as I headed downstairs to the kitchen.

Rose had woken up early, making breakfast already. She was wearing the adorable pink robe that I had given her on her birthday one year.

"Morning. I'm making breakfast. Do you want eggs or pancakes?" She asked me.

"Pancakes would be nice, thanks," I replied.

We sat down together, eating our pancakes in silence. They were delicious. Rose eventually broke the silence.

"Just like the old days. Except for one thing. Before you went into a coma you made love to me every single morning."

I nearly choked on my food when she said this.

"Now you are avoiding even my kisses. Are we husband and wife or are we just roomies? Think about what I just said. I'm gonna be back in a minute." She said as the doorbell rang, she got up to answer the door.

Saved by the bell. I wonder who that might be. What if it's Briar? I got up and snuck to the door to hear the conversation.

"What are you doing here?" I heard Rose whisper.

"You can't seriously get back together with him after everything we had together! I love you, Rose! And I know you love me too. What's the point of denying that?" It was Maude at the door.

"I do love you, but...he's my husband," Rose told her.

"Then who am I? Some doll to play with?! I thought better of you!" Maude yelled and slammed the door.

I could hear Rose crying. I crept around the corner to console her, "Hey...are you okay? That was rough." I said.

"I'm sorry you had to hear all that. I just want everything back to normal. I want us to be the way we were." She told me.

It's clear that Rose is struggling because of my indecision. I should make up my mind and put her heart at peace.  I took a deep breath.

"I should have told you a long time ago...I have my heart set on someone else." I sighed.

Rose gasped and looked frightened, "You what?! Who is she?" She snapped.

"Please, don't be angry, Rose. I'm not ready to tell you about her, but someday I will." I told her and she began to cry.

"Oh...please don't cry." I sighed and hugged her. "We were happy together, but everything's changed. And you know it. You do love Maude, don't you?" I asked.

"I guess I do." She didn't meet my eyes.

"Well...why don't you just go and tell her that then? The heart wants what it wants. I want you to be happy, no matter what." I told her.

"Oh, Leo! Thank you! Friends then?" She smiled.

"Friends." I agreed. "Now, run after her! Go!" I laughed.

She smiled at me once more then turned and ran after Maude. I'm so glad it's over! It feels like a huge weight had been lifted from my shoulders.

The next day I headed to work and spotted Morgan working. I haven't seen him in a while, so I hope this won't be weird.

"Hey, buddy." I sat down next to him.

He didn't even look at me, "Are you and Rose back together?" He asked.

"Are you in a bad mood or something?" I asked.

"It's Briar's who's in a bad mood. First, you make her think you are in love with her. Next, you are living with your wife! What the hell are you doing, man!" Morgan snapped at me.
