(Kuroo POV)
I don't know what to do at this moment. It's weird for me to just go in the bathroom. If I ask to go to the bathroom, the reception lady will most likely lead me to the bathroom for staff members only. It'd be creepy if an adult was seen in a bathroom with teenagers. I take a glance at the lady before looking back at Kenma. I gulp, nervous and unsure of what to do.
"One second, sorry."
Really? Is that all I can say? Why did I even say anything in the first place? That was so stupid of me. I feel dumber than ever, but there's no turning back now. The reception lady gives me a nod before I make my way to Kenma.
(Kenma POV)
I see Kuroo walking towards me. The lady's eyes are glued to him in confusion, but I know he's here to help me. Who cares about her? I'm struggling to breathe here.
I move away from the corner so I can't be noticed from outside the bathroom. I remain on the floor, my back pressing against the stall wall. Kuroo walks in and kneels in front of me. He put my lunch on the floor and wipes my tears away.
Kuroo gently whispers,
"Follow my breathing."
He breathes in through his nose deeply, smooth and effortlessly. I try to do the same but my inhale gets separated by sniffles. He begins counting to 5, but I can't keep up with him.
"1... 2..."
Every second he counts feels like a minute. In a struggle to breathe, I exhale.
"S-s-sor-ry."
"No need for that."
He brings one arm up slightly and shakes his hand a little bit, making sure that I'm paying attention to his hand.
"Follow my arm with your eyes."
I watch as he slowly raises his arm, inhaling at the same time. I do the same, and fewer sniffles fall out my mouth. This time, he counts for three seconds before letting his arm down, allowing me to exhale.
"5 seconds now," he says before raising his arm again.
He raises his arm slower than before, inhaling deeply. I do the same, this time only one sniffle exits from my lips. From the corner of my eye, I see Kuroo smiling at me, glad that I'm improving in terms of calming down. After five seconds, he lowers his arm.
Kuroo raises his arm one last time, inhaling deeply. This time, I was able to inhale with ease. It flowed smoothly, like a breeze of wind during the spring. It felt so good. Kuroo counted five seconds once more before bringing his arm back down, breathing out as he does so.
"Good job," Kuroo tells me.
I reply with a little smile. It's relieving knowing that the person I needed is right here when I need him. Kuroo brings me comfort, safety and happiness. Kuroo is a person I can rely on and trust with my whole heart. I'm so glad that I grew up with him and so grateful knowing how far our friendship has grown over the years. I'm happy knowing he is my best friend. I'm happy that I have someone who doesn't make me feel alone.
Kuroo slowly gets up and reaches his hand out. I grab his hand as he pulls me up and off the floor.
"You ready to get to class now?" Kuroo asks.
Despite being a bit hesitant because of how the people in my class will react when they see me, I nodded.
"Thank you Kuroo."
"Oh wait." Kuroo squats down and hands me my lunch bag. I thank him as I grab the bag.
"Take care of yourself okay?"
I give him a nod before walking back to the staircase.
We begin to walk away from each other when suddenly I hear,
"Wait! Kenma."
I turn my body around so I'm facing Kuroo.
"I would never break our promise. I'm always here for you. By your side. Even if it doesn't seem like it. I'm always here when you need me. You should know that."
Hearing those words give me the biggest feeling of relief.
"Of course I know."
"Good, now get to class. Education is important."
We smile at each other before walking our separate ways.
(Kuroo POV)
"Sorry for the hassle, ma'am," I say nervously to the reception lady.
" No worries. And thank you for helping Kenma in the bathroom. I had no idea he was in there."
I let out a little giggle before responding.
"No problem. Besides, I'm always here for Kenma."
Umm... THE END. Sorry for the rushed chapter but the story had to come to an end. However, I'm quite glad about how the whole story came out, considering I'm not great at English. Also, fun fact, I've never watched Haikyuu! LOL. I would like to thank everyone who's read and even voted for the chapters.
