I rubbed my eyes and looked at the ceiling. It was the day.
"Prue! Prue! Wake up! We start year nine today!" I called across to the other side of the room.
The dark brunette sighed and turned so she couldn't face me. "What's the time?"
I reached over to my bedside table and checked my phone. "Six thirty."
Prue climbed out of bed and into the bathroom. I scrolled through my social medias until the bathroom became free.
A little while later, Prue came out, washed and dressed in her Woodside school uniform.
"Bathroom's free."
I yawned and stretched. As I was getting dressed, I wondered if there would be Frosties at breakfast today.
"Do you reckon they'll have Frosties for breakfast?" I stuck my head out of the bathroom.
Prue was packing her bag for the day. "Probably. They have everything."
That was true. I finished getting dressed and gave myself a spray with my perfume. I walked into the bedroom and turned on the telly as I packed my bag. Prue tutted and put her bag on her shoulder.
"I'm going to the library to read for a bit, you coming with me?"
"Nah, I've got things to do. I'll see you at breakfast."
Prue nodded. "I'll see you then." She shut the door behind her.
Prudence King was smart. Really smart. All the girls were jealous of her. It didn't help that she was also really pretty. I envied her a bit as she turned heads and stole the limelight. She was aiming to become a prefect and even Head Girl. I finished packing my bag and went down to breakfast.
"Susy!"
I stopped and waved at my friend Jenna. She came running and started walking with me.
"You excited for this year?" She asked politely.
"Defo. Upper school now! We're getting old."
Jenna laughed. "Yeah, time's going so quick."
We chatted as we walked round Woodside's towering corridors towards the hall. I picked up a tray and got in the queue for breakfast. Jenna was stabbing the keyboard on her phone. I stood up on my tiptoes to see what she was typing. It seemed like she was having a go at her dad. I looked away. I'd never talk to Dad like that. I still struggled to fit in with the Woodside girls a bit but I was managing. Not because I wasn't rich, because I was. I was one of the richest girls who went here. I never thought that talking about money within your family was acceptable here. I was always taught it was rude.
I only struggled here because I had no idea how to act. Everyone around me was born into a life of luxury. I shrugged it off and made my friends. It was difficult to relate to them but in the end, they were still Woodside girls. That was one of the only things we had in common.
As I got closer to the front of the queue, Hope and her friends pushed in front of me.
Jenna turned around. Her tray had her breakfast on. "I'll get a table for us Susy!"
I nodded.
"Hey! Don't push in!" I shouted. The girls behind me shouted in agreement too.
Hope turned around. "No. I don't think so."
I shook my head and sighed. I had learnt not to bother arguing with Hope. It was tiring arguing with someone with so much arrogance and delusion. She had been picking on me ever since I started in year seven.
