The moment that the smell reached his nose, Giyuu wiped his head in the direction it was coming from. Without hesitation, Giyuu and Blue ran as fast as they could towards the smell. They dodged tree branches and rocks as they tried to get to the source.

As the scent got stronger, Blue noticed lights in the distance. Her heart dropped when she realized those were the ones of a village. Two of them broke through the trees and into the village to meet people running and screaming for dear life.

Blue pushes through the crowd with Giyuu following her closely behind. Everyone was in a panic as they tried to get away from where the demon was. A teenage boy fell to the ground. Blue grabs his arm and forces him up before the crowd could run over him.

"Come on! Get up!" She yells over the screams and cries. "What are you running from?!" She questions. The boy's face was in a panic and the sweat gathered on his forehead. "I-it's some kind of monster!"

"Which direction?" She asked. "Over there!" The boy points behind him where the crowd was running from before he frantically ran away.
"Everyone held on to the east side of the village! Go go go!" Blue yells as she pushes past the crowd.

"She's right! Everyone head that way, now!"

The voice of an older man shouts to the people. They hear Blue's demand and start running to the east side of the village. Before Blue could move an inch, someone had bumped into her shoulder.

She was about to fall and possibly get crushed, Giyuu swoops in, grabbing her by her waist and helping her back to her feet. She thanks him before grabbing his hand and rushing in the opposite direction of the crowd.

When they finally got into a clearing, Blue's heart dropped into her stomach upon seeing the body of a civilian lying on the ground in a pool of blood. Pushing aside the blood part, Blue rushed over to a man and checked his pulse. It was too late.

Guilt washes over Blue as she stands up. 'If only we smelled the blood sooner.' She thought. 'Maybe he would still be alive.'

The sound of footsteps interrupted Blue's thoughts. Her and Giyuu look in the direction they were coming from and see a large cloud of mist slowly moving in their way. Suddenly, a young woman runs out of the fog. Blue took notice of the blood on her kimono and the sweat on her forehead. She looked terrified.

She spots Blue and Giyuu, the fear in her eyes was almost heartbreaking to look at. She opened her mouth but before she could scream, a second figure appeared out of the fog and jumped onto the female, slamming her into the ground.

The demon was male with short green hair, pale skin, and light green iris. He wore a misty color kimono that was loose at the top and showed his chest. As he hovered above the woman, he showed his sharp, pure white teeth. He prepared to sink them into the woman's neck, unmoved by her screams.

It only took Blue a second to whip out one of her knives and she threw it at the demon with all her strength. The knife pierced through the air at full speed. As it got closer to the demon, he made a sharp ninety degree turn and flew straight at the demon's face. By the time the demon noticed the knife, it had already sliced through his cheek and out the other side.

The demon jumped back as his blood slipped like a waterfall out his mouth. The woman frantically crawls away. Blue runs toward her and ripped her off the ground. Once she was on her feet Blue sent her way towards the direction the other villagers went.

Giyuu goes to Blue's side, his blue katana out and tightly in his grasp. Blue held out her hand and summoned back her knife. As it flies towards her through the air, she catches it with ease. As the fog disappeared, the demon cursed under his breath. The cut heals in a matter of seconds before he looks in the direction of who sent the knives.
