Charlotte
After having an illegal amount of fun, we were finally back in Sophia's room. We'd spent the evening behaving as if we were kids. Eating more sugar, then having dinner later on with Sophie's mom, then finally having more snacks again. We'd changed into our pj's and brushed our teeth. We'd cracked a few jokes, shared a few interesting things about ourselves, painted each other's nails and watched one movie. We were in the middle of the second one. This time it was a cheesy movie.
The guy was choosing his ex over his love interest. And so I watched, well silently giggled, as Chrissy and Sophie were balling their eyes out along with said love interest.
I mean, the scene was sad. Very much so, but I'd never had my heart broken. So I couldn't relate. I vaguely remember Sophie telling me about a boyfriend she left behind. And then Chrissy has been dating bad dudes for the past two years. Then there was me, the one with the stable boyfriend.
So Cole was my first boyfriend. Big deal.
I heard a knock on the door, and I got out of the covers so that my friends could continue on with the movie. I opened the door to find Jessica.
"Jessica!" I said, glad for some reason to see her. She emanated a warm feel that made it easy to get used to her. She had also been a great host the whole night.
"Are you okay?" Was the first thing she said, out of concern.
"I'm fine, I'm good. I feel great. Energized," I said quickly. Truth was, I had drank a few energy drinks. There was no way I would fall asleep tonight. This was why my mother didn't like energy drinks.
I could feel myself buzzing. Jessica started chuckling. "I just wanted to make sure that you girls were settled in for the night, before I go to sleep. Do you need anything?"
I looked at my friends who looked much happier. Probably, the guy and his love interest had gotten back together. That was quick. I turned back to Jessica and said, "No, we're good. Thank you."
She gave me another one of her warm, motherly smiles. "Okay, I'm heading to bed now. It's almost 11. But have a good night." She then turned to leave.
I closed the door silently and returned to bed. "Did you guys finish the movie?"
"Yep, and we're thinking of watching another one," Sophie said. Chrissy agreed with her, and suggested one of her favourites.
We spent the next hour and a half watching this movie, then finally, my friends ended up falling asleep an hour after midnight after a few more interesting talks.
I couldn't fall asleep no matter how many times I tried. I tossed and turned, until I finally gave up. When I looked at the time on my phone, it was around 3. I stood up to go pee, then came back. I found Angela curled up on my spot and smiled. I tucked myself in and put her on my chest. Angela peered at me with curious black eyes, then snuggled inside the blanket right over my chest.
I ended up thinking while stroking her soft fur. What would happen if I was back at home? Obviously, I would have been asleep. Or thinking about Mickey.
My mind was plagued by images of chestnut eyes and inky black hair. The different expressions on Mickey's face were well remembered by my brain. A fact that I wasn't sure warranted concern or not.
The dude sure was attractive.
The conversation we had earlier today replayed in my mind. I struggled to pick apart the conversation bit by bit, mainly because of the hostility I'd felt towards him during it.
He was extremely rude to me after the whole thing last night.
And then he just came to me today expecting I'd treat him normally? Well, he had been dead wrong. I'm sure after today, he wouldn't trample over me with his rudeness like he did last night. I was angry, and I probably should still be.
