It was a Monday the rain lashed against the windowpanes and Joey felt utterly content sitting in her potions class chatting away with Isabella.

"As your Newts are coming up next year," professor Slughorn paused his small eyes darting over the students ensuring that he had their full attention, "I will give you a little project, that you will work on in the pairs of two, this will make up thirty percent of your grade." Hushed whispers filled the classroom as everybody wanted to work with their friends, "And I will choose the partners." The class groaned.

With a flick of his wand, the pairings appeared on the board and handouts with instructions flew through the class. And Joey's eyes immediately searched for her name, hoping desperately that she got paired up with someone who was better at potions than her.

The girl's wish was granted, even though she wasn't exactly happy about the name standing next to hers: Regulus Black
Her eyes darted over the room, finding Regulus steely eyes transfixed on her, making goosebumps appear on her skin.

The bell rang, dismissing the class, giving all the students time to find their partner and schedule a time and place, yet Joey felt frozen into place.

"Are you free tomorrow?" Regulus asked politely and Joey jolted up, not realizing the boy was standing in front of her.

"Uh yeah I guess."

"Great. Your last class is Transfiguration isn't it?"

"Yes." She said, not bothering to ask why he knew that.

"I'll pick you up then." Regulus stated plainly before making his way out of the door and Joey noticed how calm and calculated every move of him seemed, as if every fiber of his body was tensed to ensure perfection.

The next day ran like sand through Joey's fingers and she fidgeted with her fingers anxiously, not knowing what to expect from the Project with Regulus, who allegedly hexed someone in the hospital and knew more dark Magic than any other student his age.

"Scared of working with the Slytherin prince?" Isa whispered while professor McGonagall was distracted.

Joey just nodded, feeling her stomach turning.

"Don't worry, you are a pureblood."

"It's not just that. What if I mess up he is extremely serious when it comes to his studies?"

"He is extremely serious when it comes to existing." Isa joked, and Joey knew the girl was right.

The bell rang, and Joey stood up, hesitantly trailing after her classmates. She expected Regulus to be late, but he already waited for her, his hands stiffly placed behind his back.
