A Rainy Day

~Shuichi Saihara's POV~

     It has been raining all week, and it just happened to rain while I was sitting on a park bench, reading Skeleton Creek. "Damn it.." I was just trying to get to the next video- "You okay?" a voice calls out to me from amongst the pouring down rain. A hand reaches out to me. The hand is pretty big compared to mine, but I take it anyway, hoping for the best. "You got pretty wet- what are you doing out here in the pouring down rain?" He says. He is a tall boy with purple hair and a goatee. I couldn't really tell how old he was. "Oh- I was just reading, and it started to rain a little." I practically whispered. "A little? You think THIS is a little?" He started to giggle. I didn't notice right away, but I could feel my face get warmer.

     "Your book is all wet, good thing I got you under something!" The boy said while smiling. I didn't notice until now that we were both under an umbrella. "Thank you- uh-" "Kaito! Kaito Momota, luminary of the stars!" He proclaimed. "The Ultimate Astronaut? That Kaito!?" I didn't know we went to the same school- if I did I would have not been so timid. He probably thinks I'm weird. "That's the one!" The astronaut said, proudly. " I'm uh- Shuichi Saihara.. the Ultimate Detective." I mumbled, kinda embarrassed. "Oh I've heard about you- you were that one guy that's smarter than the police and crime system-" Of course that's what people see me as. The smart and timid kid. "Yup.." I muttered. "That's awesome!! I bet you're super smart- do you mind helping me with homework?" He asked. I don't have much else to do- and he seems really nice. "Sure- I don't mind. What with?" "Everything. But science- I have no idea what I'm doing." He sighs.

     "Here, let's meet up tomorrow. I'll be like your tutor." I hand him my business card that has my phone number on it. "Sweet! Thanks Shu! Do you want me to walk you home?" This guy is so nice- "No that's okay-" I am suddenly interrupted as he grabs my hand and starts walking, the other hand holding the umbrella. "Lead the way, Mr. Detective!"

When we get to my house, I wave to him and his smile. That smile must be contagious, because I start to smile a little too. As he walks off I watch his movements. This will be fun.
