Meredith's POV

"Mer, I broke up with Jo." Alex walks up to me after our shift ended.

"Alex... I'm so sorry." Meredith replies.

"Me too. I asked her twice to marry me and she wouldn't give me an answer. Then when I proposed again, she finally said no. I guess it would've worked out if thats the way it was supposed to."

"You're right. Take me home so we can get drunk?"

"Sounds great, but I hope you have an extra room for me in the long run. Could I move back in?"

"Alex, of course you can stay. But I really don't have a room for you. You could stay in my room if you need."

"Thanks, Meredith. I love you." Alex drives me home and we decide that tomorrow night we'll get drunk, because we're too tired to tonight.

"Hey Mer, where's your toothpaste?" Alex yells for me.

"In the cabinet on the left." 

"Thanks. Tomorrow morning, I'm going to go to our loft and pack if you want to come."

"I'm sorry, Alex. I can't. I have an early surgery." Alex walks back into my room and gets into bed next to me.

"So you and Riggs aren't together anymore?" He asks.

"No, he picked Megan. I mean he should, he loves her." I say, my face slightly dropping.

"Yeah, but he loved you too."

"You never even liked him, Alex. Why do you care?"

"I just don't want you to be hurt. You're my person. You don't deserve that. I swear I'll kill him if I ever see him again."

"No, no Alex. You don't need to." I lay my head down on my pillow. "Plus, Hayes kissed me."

"Whoo. Go, Mer!" He says, sleepily.

"Thanks, Alex. Goodnight."

"Goodnight." He replies, putting his arm around me so I'm cuddled up next to him.
