Christopher was outside. He saw two people talking to another vampire that was in Chicago. One was a girl with blonde hair. The other was a big buff guy with jet black hair. He didn't pay attention to the conversation until he heard the name, Carlisle. It wasn't a common name, even back then. And you definitely didn't hear it nowadays. So, Christopher thought there was a pretty good chance they were talking about his brother.

Once they were finished talking to the vampire, he walked over to them. "Excuse me." Christopher said. "Are you guys talking about Carlisle Cullen?"

"Yes." Rosalie said. "Who are you?"

"I'm Christopher." Christopher replied.

"How do you know Carlisle?" Emmett asked.

"Carlisle's an old friend." Christopher answered. "Pardon the eavesdropping, but I couldn't help but overhear you guys saying that he needs help."

"Yeah, he does." Rosalie said.

"What's going on?" Christopher asked.

"It's difficult to explain." Rosalie started. "Our adoptive brother fell in love with a human and they conceived a daughter."

"So, they created an immortal child?" Christopher asked.

"No. Their daughter is half vampire half human." Emmett replied. "But, the Volturi thinks she's an immortal child and now their after our family. We've been gathering witnesses to prove to them that their daughter isn't an immortal child." Christopher was quiet while he thought.

"Just come to our home and let their daughter show you that she's not an immortal child." The blonde said.

"Alright." Christopher said. "I will go to your home."

"Here's the address." Rosalie said, writing something down and handing it to him.

"Thank you." Christopher said, taking it. The two sped off and Christopher went to his neighbor's house. He knocked on the door and a young woman answered it.

"Hello Chris." She greeted.

"Hello Lauren." Christopher said.

"What can I do for you?" Lauren asked.

"I was wondering if you could watch Paige for a little bit." Christopher said. "I have an urgent trip I need to go on."

"Of course, Chris." Lauren said.

"Thank you." Christopher said. "I really appreciate it."

"Do you know how long you'll be gone?" Lauren asked.

"I don't, but I'll keep you updated when I do." Christopher said. "Can you come by tonight after dinner?"

"Ok." Lauren said.

Christopher nodded before walking away. He headed to the school to pick up his daughter.

"Hi Dad!" Paige said, running over to her father.

"Hi Princess." Christopher greeted. "How was school?"

"It was good." Paige replied.

"So, listen." Christopher said. "I have to go on a last minute trip, so Lauren is going to watch you for a little bit."

"Are you going to be back by Christmas?" Paige asked.

"I don't know, but I'm going to try." Christopher said. Paige nodded.

Later that night, Christopher was saying goodbye to his daughter.

"While I'm gone I want you to be good for Lauren." Christopher said.

"I will." Paige said.

"That's my girl." Christopher said. He looked at Lauren. "Thank you again for watching her."

"You're welcome." Lauren said.

"Bye Dad." Paige said.

"Bye sweetheart." Christopher said. "I'll be back soon." He hugged and kissed Paige on the top of the head before walking out of the house.
